You may not consciously “choose to be fat”, but if you eat more than you burn in calories you are making a choice. Nobody is forcing the food down your throat. A company selling medical products for bariatric surgery has a vested interest in telling fat people that their ‘condition’ is medical. It isn’t. The same results can be achieved with willpower, a calorie controlled diet and exercise.
