I'm newer to tcg and I've built 5 decks so far. I feel like I'm far enough along that what I've built is ok for just me and one of my friends. We're not diehard to the point of playing competitively. We're just having fun. I tend to lean towards a lot of healing through tool and item trainers and choosing Pokemon that can deal out damage to my opponents bench. So keeping my HP up, while destroying all of my opponents HP. It's worked ok so far. Nemona and Nemonas backpack have proven to be pretty useful to me for just drawing from the deck and recycling from my discard pile, and of course I have some trainers in there to search energy and pokemon.

Very nice! I like healing too. Goodra VSTAR was a favorite deck of mine for a while. Now Torterra ex and Eldegoss with the "Wafting Heal" ability from Temporal Forces. Then Twilight Masquerade gave us the Bug Catching Set which helps grass type decks. In any case, I'm glad you're havin' a good time!

Have you tried using Gardenia's Vigor for Energy acceleration instead of the Arceus?

I haven't, but that could work as well. I just have a love/hate relationship with that card because when it's in my hand, the energy isn't. Also only being able to attach to the bench is a drawback, but I also haven't experimented with potential pivoters either. I might try and think of something, though!

Just played against this deck, it's so overlooked. Especially the 200 damage from Goodra and damage reduction were soooo annoying

Goodra is a rough deck to go against on its own, honestly. Giratina VSTAR stopped it from really shining, but I went against an Arceus/Goodra deck with Regidrago and had no answers lol. Especially since Goodra has a 100% heal once per game. Just oof.

First deck???? I'm a lifelong mtg player. My wife and I are trying pokemon. We typically build decks from packs or common lots only. All the vstar and ex cards would need to be bought as singles I'd think. Even the less powerful ones require multiples of the basics and stage 1 and 2 to be effective. Just seems harder to build a deck without buying a pre-made one or singles.

There are definitely a few pre-made ones that will help you get on your feet. The great thing about Pokemon, though, is that the singles are typically very cheap. If you haven’t seen it, I’d recommend the staples video I put up cuz those will be useful across all decks. Then just pick and choose more specific ones based on the decks you want. Feel free to ask any questions, though! Otherwise, good luck with your Pokemon journey. :)

Same, I’ve been playing Magic for a few years but my nephew has been collecting Pokemon for equally as long and wanted to learn to play, so I recently learned and took him to pick out a starter deck and we used his collection to upgrade it. If you’re starting out I would suggest buying two of the same, or just two starter decks and combine them and add singles from there. Good thing about Pokemon over Magic is that most people collect and not play, so you can find a lot of useful cards pretty cheap

Pokémon Catcher and Counter Catcher are legal. I didn't include them here because they're conditional which can make things inconsistent. They're still good in the right decks, though!

Getting interaction on this channel has been hard :( But it also happened with a tutorial I helped another channel with. People really seem to gravitate towards educational content but very few interact with it. Hoping that changes over time. Always trying to keep up with new comments, though, to answer any questions.

@@DrakDecks I DID watch the tutorials, yes. Might have to hunt them down and watch them again. Been playing online and I enjoy the Zoroark and Chien-Pao structure decks provided. Regarding your discussion of deck building, I actually managed to make my own "Darkrai Turbo" deck (of it can be called that lol). Still need to fine-tune it, though, as I feel I'm struggling even in the test matches against the AI with the structure decks.

@@jameshewitt4706 That's a fun one! Yeah, the AI is... not great. What I use those matches for is checking my first few turns to see if my strategy can pop off consistently. After turn 5 or so there isn't much to gain from the AI. They just make really dumb decisions lol. But yeah, great way to find holes in your build and refine your numbers before taking it against real opponents.

@@DrakDecks the deck has been hit or miss. Primary core of Darkrai Vstar (so far only have one copy of that, sadly), 3 Hydreigon, and 2 Hoopa. Hoopa has a 1-energy attack to fish a Dark energy straight from my deck and attach it to one of my pokemon. And Hydreigon's ability excavates 3 cards from the top of my deck and automatically attaches ANY energy found there to my pokemon before discarding the rest. Add on the 1 attach from hand plus Dark Patch, Energy Sticker, and Squakabilly; and I can get a lot out if things work.

I think poket could be good when you would on travel version would be usefull but tcg live is good when you at home and play with friends twin strategy to go only my suggestion.

Having a charizard with the 'burn brightly' ability on the bench has been SOOO OP for me. It makes every fire energy be worth two, essentially halving energy costs

Kind of. They have prerelease "build and battle" boxes that come with a special promo card and a pack of, I think, 40 predetermined cards. Then they also give you 4 packs to pull from. You put a deck together of 40 cards and play with 4 prize cards iirc. Never actually been to a store that supports it, but I believe those are the rules.

I don't play and am just peeking in as a curious outsider. The algorithm served this to me because I watch VGC and also play FFXIV I guess? But as someone who has played MtG on and off for a billion years, it does seem very strange to release a mobile game and have TCG Live and have no integration between the two. I didn't like the effect Arena had on MtG as a whole.

I really dont have any idea on pocket... Its probably meant to make pokemon tcg simpler but the TCG is already probably the simplest of all the tcgs to the point that its not going to hook hard core players like myself. But I do have a fear it is going to be so simple that it doesn't show what makes Pokémon such a great game

I have more then 7000 POKEMON BASIC ENERGY CARDS 2023 SVEen 001 to 008. I'm trying to figure out what they are worth and how to sell them. These came from a comic book store, I assume they opened packs of cards to find the more valuable card and sold theses separately. I do not want to small lots but I may if can make money selling small lots. I listed them in an ebay auction starting bid $200 for the whole lot of 7000 and it did not even one view.

You mentioning coin flips makes me think about how I've been playing the Game Boy Pokemon TCG game on and off. Man, that game has so many things dependent on coin flips, it's so painful. Worst thing is that results seem to be set at the start of your turn, so I can't even cheese it with the rewind feature of the Switch version. Never really played the actual game, but I imagine it isn't really like that now.

I've been trying to get a GLC/E4 little tournament going for my locals, I think the kids would really get a kick out of it. Elite Fourmat is too good of a name to not have a format assigned to it though :P
