I used to be a collector. Things you should know; They really will settle for ANYTHING. There’s a list of rules collectors have to follow. If you record the call and they break rules, the agency is required by law to pay you a flat fee PER INFRACTION. When I was a collector in 2016, the rate was $1000. This is why the calls all start with “this is an attempt to collect a debt. Any information obtained will be used for that purpose.” And lastly; Change your number all you want.. They WILL find you. The second you order from Pizza Hut, or ANYWHERE, they’ve got your new contact info. Virtually every business has a side hustle where they sell the information collected from customers. It’s called “SkipTracing”.
