Hiked it in 1998 with friends in the summer. The trail was not marked and your eye had to "see" the trail over natural paths made over tree vines and branches. It was a pleasant hike but as we got deeper and deeper, I did get a feeling of apprehension. I thought the cliffs made the path too narrow and thought we'd die if there was a landslide! Yes these thoughts were in my head and I probably said it out loud to my friends. When we got to the end where the pool was, I knew not to go in even though I was overheated and sweating! It looked very slippery with no grip. I stayed on land and splashed water on me. My 3 friends went in for a swim and all of them struggled to get out. I could not wait until we left the place. I did admire and appreciate its natural beauty but I also knew it was called Sacred Falls for a reason. Like we should not be there. Then a year later, we felt such sorrow about the landslide and deaths and injuries of those hikers. I was horrified for them since I experienced first hand that there is NO WHERE to hide or protect oneself from falling rocks! People need to respect it and stay out! That's what No Trespassing means!

Thank you for the comment and recount of your hike to the Falls. My sister went on a hike up there and was one of the last to do it before it closed. I have never been back in there except for with my drone. Sacred

I loved every minute of this! I have often wondered how those islands looked,as I watched them from a distance. I believe I saw caves on the backside. The music was festive and appropriate for the day. I was taken once again, on that floater up and down the water. The ending was definitely a surprise… ! Thank you for sharing our beautiful Hawaii,so I can travel back whenever I want. XO
