I haven't read the book, but based on the movie, it seems like they were enchanted or tempted by the White Witch. Narnia has deep magic, and not all of it is good. The White Witch represents the 'enemy' and I've always been taught that you don't face temptation head-on to test your strength. Instead, you avoid it because, even if you don't want it, the flesh is easily tempted.

Actually, Caspian messed up first. Also, not pursuing the fight made me realize the Telmarines would chase them regardless, soooo...

budz I LOVE this movie. it's such a unique weird silly entertaining and actually quite well made and creative movie imo the fight scenes are fucking crazy and like I won't lie it's cathartic to watch those ladies kicking the crap out of a bunch of dudes. and like honestly the thing about Black Mask in this film is that he's just a narcissistic man baby with too much influence and power, which fr fr is the biggest threat to a woman sometimes. often times. too many times. lol :(

I understand what you are saying about communicating with teachers, but as someone who experienced telling teachers I had ptsd, they were still insensitive. So even if Terri had spoken up, they still could have completely dismissed her experience, which is awful for someone experiencing ptsd.

When I have applied for jobs, they always don't allow workplace romances. They're unallowed for a reason. Besides, I'm not even intelligent in getting involved in a relationship at work. I'm just there to do my job and do my best at it. No fuss, no muss.

(In the books) After the interview, she was flustered and the Capitol showed her face after Peeta revealed he likes her. Hence the "he made me look weak" line. Also, yes, she's confused. We're friends(?), we gotta kill each other possibly, we gotta sell the "team" angle, now you don't wanna train with me, crush reveal, we gotta kill each other but now you like me?, do i like you back? But I have to either kill you or maybe see you die. So yeah

1:59 The only bright side is that kid would've been splattered on the real pyramid otherwise. 8:31 Bank of Evil (formerly Lehman Bros) 13:06 Vector's got great security....but he's also an idiot. 15:50 Clue: Who told him about the moon heist? 20:18 Sometimes gibberish, sometimes multilingual, a mix of the two. 21:39 That little unicorn that was disintegrated was probably the only toy Agnes had. Anything else will do. 21:58 No the ship and the car aren't one in the same. 22:48 Ironically this is a parent thing where if the kid is being stubborn, the parent just leaves without them or at least pretends to. 24:10 They took too long posing. 38:42 See with the piranha gun, squid launcher(which did end up working out)and pet shark, Vector could've done something the sea creature theme, cos that seems to be his thing rather than the ipod look. Everything else was probably bought by Perkins, but the sea creature stuff seems to be by his own merit. 42:00 What was Vector gonna do with the pyramid? His dad said the bank was losing money on Gru's schemes, but did this pay out? Vector hasn't tried to ransom the pyramid back or anything.(if he had used the shrink ray on it for storage then later it grows back and destroys his house, at least it would've payed off)

Yeah the Stigma of Chinese Prejudice against Americans is pretty real, lets just say their classrooms use Americans as a "Do not " examples. Even more so they despise even Chinese decent in America, they still consider them foreigners because they weren't born and raised in China. So even if you were born Chinese, speak it and know all the customs, you'd still be an outsider to them. It has to do with a super belief in Traditionalism and Patriotism. I remember my family use to rent a room or two to Chinese University students who would study abroad in America. I actually helped a few of them get to know the area which was fun showing them around. Suffice it say though their parents didn't like us. One time one of the Student's mother's visited us to check up on her son, honey i didn't need a translator at 9pm to know what she was yelling at him as she angrily cleaned his room.

I'm pretty sure that "died of a broken heart" in this context is a euphemism for suicide. Like, that's why there's that awkward pause when little Sally asks her aunts if that's what happened, and why Gillian asks Sally if she's ever forgiven their mother for it, and why the kids want to know how how could she leave her kids like that.

I felt bad for Cato, he was just another victim of the Captoil's games. Sure he may have treated the games like a sport, but that's because he was brainwashed into believing the games are about glory and bringing pride to his district. When in reality he will be fighting for his life, while being tortured for the capitol's entertainment. Near the end when Clove died and the mutts started torturing him, he realized what the games truly were, that he was just another pawn in the Capitol's games.

Such a great line for Cato, "I'm dead anyway. I always was, right?" This line is amazing. It really makes it show just how crazy the idea of these games is. President Snow says it gives them hope, not a lot, but enough to keep going without too much power. Cato was ready to win. He wanted to fight. In the end here, he finally comes to realize that no one ever wins the games. Just like Haymitch said, and he realizes his life has never actually belonged to him, but to Snow. Also saying, ""It's all I know how to do. To bring pride to my district. Not that it matters." really brings out the difference between being a career and how they are the ones who really get sucked into all of this as if it's the greatest thing to happen in someone's life. when really it doesn't matter and never has mattered. No one can ever bring pride to their district because the districts don't really matter themselves.

I love what Cato represents in this scene. He represents your average soldier: brought up to believe war is glorious; trained to kill whilst being told that it is something great - only to realise that war is not a game. He arrives on the battlefield, confident and eager, but when it comes down to it he realises that war is ugly. It isn't glorious or worthy of honour. It's just a waste of potential, a waste a life. Ultimately war is just someone else's mess that you're thrown into. True, Cato was ruthless and rather despicable, but I can't help but feel pity for him - like so many of the soldiers in our wars he was lead to believe that war was something "good".

What i love about this scene is the fact that before this you just see Cato as an Asshole who is just looking to kill people basiclly. But when he gives his last speech you realize he's just an oridinary teenager trying to survive like everyone else. He volunteered because he didnt know any better, because he was raised for the games and was led to believe that the games would bring "Pride" to their districts. Had he been born in another district or when the games was not around he could have been a decent guy, but from the beginning he was just "A Pawn in the Games".

If you think about it, Cato was having his own little rebellion moment against the Capitol with his final words. Realizing there's no honor or glory in competing in these games, as he'd been brought up to believe

"Cato is very much still an 18 year old boy. He maintained his alpha attitude throughout the Games when he had allies with him. Regardless of whether he had to kill them eventually, Cato obviously viewed them as friends, traveling companions, and people that were sharing this experience with him (and maybe more with Glimmer). After Clove died, he was left by himself. One can only imagine how lonely that feeling actually is. After training his whole life for this moment, so close to winning, and realizing how truly alone he is." Like you guys also said, Cato came to the realization that his entire life was a lie. He wasn't training for the greatest glory any citizen of Panem could have; he was a tool for the Capitol to make the games more interesting. Не only realized this, however, after he was the last one standing, which is why he says "I'm dead anyways"; even if he lives, he has nothing to live for."

Damn a lot of this commentary did not land with me and I respect it but this movie is beloved for a reason. It definitely hits different if you grew up with it I guess but this had heart to me. The "over-the-top" nature of the film just speaks of so much heart and love for the franchise that they gave it a grand send off. A perfect closing entry in my books. We all left those theaters years ago knowing this was going to be a film that we would come back to. One of my fondest memories with it is watching it the night before my high school graduation with my friends at my house years after its release, just a full circle moment for me. HSM3 you will always be loved!

While I enjoyed this viewing, and a lot of your observations, I think you gentlemen spend a lot of time for getting that these are teenagers. While Spencer is a gamer the only games we saw him playing was a fighting game. Fridge if he did play video games would have been more likely to play sports games that would not have had cutscenes or missions. Also when you reacted as if you would have understood nuances of the game as you're playing it in their position, you have to remember that it's a lot easier to armchair play than it is to actually play while you're under the gun. While I love chess, and at least used to be pretty good at it when I was a teenager, I definitely remember that it was always easier to see all of the moves ahead while watching others play, then when I had the clock ticking on my own games. Being in the midst of the game yourself and dealing with the clock and the pitfalls it's a lot harder to step outside of what you're doing in order to see all of the surrounding details and notice everything that you need to do in the moment. I found that actually fairly realistic about the film.

I know you guys were talking about the group all knowing those steps along with him at the end and you all couldn't figure out. If you go back to the part where the boss guy Neil said he wsnted to do something different patrick Swayze said he had new ideas. It was meant to show that he and the group from their house all alresdy do these dances..so they obviously already had these moves (considered at the time new moves) but being that they all did dirty dancing ..no one else at the time knew that dance either..so these were moves they all did in that house...(back in the basements back home as referred earlier on)..so I think it's meant to he implied this was a dance they already had in motion.

I watched this movie at a friends house and enjoyed it, but found the book later and fell in love. Its so much better written than the movie, which really served as a "look at Anne Hathaway playing a quirky, awkward teenager who everyone loves despite her clumsiness!" vehicle. The annoying boyfriend book is a magic (non-talking) storybook that can show letters written to Ella, the curse is presented much more subtly, the romance makes sense, and the reasons adults dont intervene make sense. Its not a particularly long read, and I recommend it highly.
