Injuries have really disrupted him and with Maatsen and Digne the position is covered. Keep in mind Mings can also play LB when he gets back. Best of luck to Moreno - clearly loves the Villa and has been solid over his 50 odd games.

Regarding Buendia: I think he deserves a season. I believe he’s only got two years left on his deal, so it’s up to him to work super hard and get that extension he no doubt desires. And having been out for a year, he’ll be super hungry to pick up where he left off from the preseason in the US last year. Could be really interesting

I like Buendia & agree he looked really good in pre-season before the injury last year , he’s perfect for that role if Emery can get the best out of him …… would love to get Eze from palace but couldn’t see them selling him in this window

Because Emery wanted him, I would have been happy for Felix to come to Villa. However I’m relieved we have missed out on him. Mainly because I think he would stunted the progress of Rogers and JJ. In addition we are stacked in that area and I feel Emery will use specific players qualities for certain games in that 10 role i.e. McGinn, Tielmans, Emi, or Rogers. Also I think if Emery gets Duran focused, we could have an £80 million player next season. Which will fix next years PSR hole

I am frustrated that we were unable to secure Emery's primary transfer objective, regardless of whether it was Felix. Given our strong ties to Spanish football, our participation in the Champions League, and having the top coach in the league, it is perplexing that we have relinquished this player to Chelsea. It is my belief that finding a replacement for Diaby is imperative. Presumably, the funds from Diaby's departure should be sufficient to acquire a skilled winger.

Felix was one that Emery would have worked wonders with, but choosing to join the chaos at Chelsea shows either how desperate he is to get out of atletico and how he's quantity over quality, he's joined for the pay cheque of crazy Chelsea rather than development as a player with sensible Villa.. when it boils down to it, if he had wanted to join us he'd have made some noise about it, the moment Chelsea come calling he looked keen for the move publicly straight away. Having said all that we do need to move on the likes of Dendonker and Moreno both surplus to requirements as both have been improved on and wouldn't need replacing, but to bring in an attacking option to battle Rogers/Buendia in that role behind the striker, I'm not sure if we will now, we all talk about needing that lock picker, that guy who can find the vital pass, but Buendia not being 100 % back yet, he's available but still has to get a run of games to find his feet, as if he's just coming out of lockdown and reintergrating himself back into society, he'll need a bit of time, but is capable of being that guy under Emery where maybe he disappointed under previous management. Rogers, not only is the lad a wrecking ball who can just burst through the lines and cause damage but he has the dancing feet to get out of crowded situations, I think we'll wait to see how that pair develop until January before trying to sign that Diaby replacement, but it's finding someone that would excite Emery the way he saw a project in Felix, I don't see us buying a finished article. People saying neither Iling Jr or Enzo making the bench means we got the short end of the stick all of a sudden in the Luiz deal, but I think they've both got so little experience in mens football right now they weren't involved in the deal to be immediate parts of our season, but talented players who have the potential to be huge stars for Villa in the future, I imagine they both are kept around to get familiar with Emery ball, it took Tielimens a seasoned baller the best part of half a season to be up to speed with how Unai wanted him to play, now he's an important part of how we play, it took time but now he's part of the big picture, and in time we'll be saying how integruel these two are to the way we will be playing then, we've still got new shiny toys in Onana and Maatsen to enjoy along with the rebranded Barkley to get out of the box and play with, so as exciting as SIJ and enzo are, you can't play with all of your toys, you'll make a mess, chose a few for now, and play with the other ones later... Literally like looking after children managing a football club, as long as you have projects to keep everybody involved in some way and the teachers pets are doing well in class everyone should get on nicely and it could be a good year, don't want to see Duran on the naughty step too many times, hoping he gets a few more gold stars, He earned one this week anyway. Great pod mate as always ! I predicted weeks ago Felix wouldn’t happen and was holding out for elsewhere, he’s shown his true colours. To be honest I was never that fussed on him for the money we’re talking, big name with not a great deal of substance ! Yes he’ll have his moments probably at Chelsea but nowhere near consistent enough for me. Still believe we’re 2 or 3 short , maybe Dendonker can be sold or go out on loan. I can see illing junior going out on loan maybe then there’s Moreno who will probably go out. I’m not sure Nedelkovic is ready yet so I’d like to see another RB come in like a Geertruida who would strengthen our starting 11. Still not convinced with our back up keepers if touchwood anything happened to Emi. Then is there room for a Diaby replacement or can Buendia and Rodger’s fill that role between them ? If I had to choose only one more to come in then it would be that RB position. To raise another observation are we ok if Pau gets injured, we don’t know what level Mings will be at when he returns. Could take him a while to reach his optimum levels after such a bad injury , same goes for Buendia I suppose. UTV
