I have dairy goats and I love them dearly, but caring for them is very expensive. Fencing alone costs a fortune, and if you don't fence your goats in, they will destroy your property, including your sheds and camper on the outside. They will be in that garden in a heartbeat. I agree with what someone else said.... since you only use milk for your coffee, support your neighbor and just buy from them. It will save you hundreds of dollars. Happy homesteading to you!

Thanks for this one. It's safe to say the honeymoon faze of traveling has worn off. I totally understand the longing for community. Lately, I've been thinking of an apartment or even buying something. Whether it be land of a house. Not for homesteading. I live that through you. Lol. At the same time, Idk if I'm ready to come off the road yet. I miss the stability of friends, but im still having a blast out here. It's nice to hear someone else talking about it. Makes it a little less lonely.

here is the thing, if you still have your wander lust, with a trusted neighbor and a specific list of daily /bi-weekly, weekly things that need to be done, on the homestead, that you can compensate them with either money or barter,... who says you cant go for a week for semi local travel?

If the government wants you removed, they will find an excuse. There will be nothing you can do about it but to take the government housing they have prepared for the masses. If one wants to know what life was like living independently with nothing but your own resourcefulness to rely on, read about the homesteaders of 100 years ago. It was a very hard life compared to what we are used to. We are not their equals. These initiatives are poorly thought out and are mostly born out of too many KZfaq videos and not enough knowledge of history. There is strength in numbers. That is why early homesteaders built communities. When building communities it is wise to first start with existing infrastructures.

You might want to consider buying a pair of ramps you can get a pair of them at Home Depot or even getting a used pair they usually are in great condition I bought a pair and save alot of time when working on my vehicle

What if you made your own foundation and made it nonremovable? All you would have to do is bolt down around the exterior walls like a regular house is built, your answer would be finding a inspector who is fair and honest ,if the cabins wood is made by the amish they usually make 2x4s and others true to size which is a good thing like a 2x4 actually measuring 2x4 instead of 31/2 x 11/2 and a honest and fair inspector would know that

They want to tax you. You could apply for a variance and offer to pay the tax that they want for a permanent structure.

Security is what comes to mind first. If you own your own land you can grow your own food without depending much on the grocery store. The food can be much healthier too.

Good things take time, it doesn't matter what it is, it takes time to be good. But what is needed is a structured and organised priority list and plan. On any block of land, follow the basics: 1. Access. 2 Purpose. 3. Water..4.. Security for yourself and your property including livestock. 5. Management plan including strategic management plan for property. 6. Fencing and livestock management. 7 Skills assessment. 8. Vegetation and livestock management. 9. Alternative methods. 10. Opportunities.
@ronmillis8143
@ronmillis8143 2 күн бұрын
I would suggest water should always be number 1, access number 2, 3 Security that is boundary fencing adequate to keep livestock in and others out. You will also need access to the boundary. No point getting 100 sheep, lamas or goats if you have no fencing around the perimeter...unless of course you want to spend every waking moment following ya prized milking goats around the property...
