Of course I didn't know about rizzness prior to Taemin's song, and I don't feel bad since I just had to add it to my computer's dictionary. This is one reason I'm into Kpop. It's keeping me young. It's been very interesting to watch SM and their growing pains over the past few years. A lot of great talent has gone out on their own for their solo careers, and I think that's healthy for the industry. I'd rather give my money to smaller companies than those that are controlled by stock holders. Yet in the end it only matters whether or not the talent is happy. Afterall, I'm here for them, not their companies. Rizzness is my favorite song on this album. The lyrics are pretty powerful. It's hard not to read into them. I think he might be talking to old SM execs, but I could just be projecting.

Taemin is a unique artist, a pioneer, always trying and creating something new! Every time it is impossible to predict what he will present and no matter what he undertakes, he will do it in an excellent way! He raps like no one else, listen to him! His dance is magnetically mesmerizing! Amazing atmosphere and killer charisma of Taemin, amazing performance! ES and KAY, thank you for your music reviews!

To understand the story in EXO's "Ko Ko Bop" MV, you have to connect the story in "Ko Ko Bop" to the story in their "Lucky One" MV. "Ko Ko Bop" may look trippy and crazy, but if you understand EXO's storyline you will see that everything was done for a specific reason. According to the members, Ko Ko Bop is an infectious, happy dance. Hence why it's called Ko Ko BOP. I see it as they are happy to now be free from the Red Forces' control (or happy to be alive), so they are letting loose and dancing. (It can't be about drugs because that would be highly scandalous and it could never be played on the radio or seen on TV, etc. in Korea. Or, at the very least, it has to have more than one meaning, just like their song "Lotto".) There are 8 members in "Ko Ko Bop." This MV came out in 2017 and it was the first MV where Lay, EXO's Chinese member, was unable to participate because of the political issues between the Korean and Chinese government at the time. I can see how people might think that Ko Ko Bop is a drug they are all taking and that is why they are acting like they are high and kind of in a loopy drugged-like state. But to really understand what is happening in "Ko Ko Bop," you have to know what was happening in their "Lucky One" MV. In "Lucky One" EXO has been captured by the Red Force who is doing experiments on EXO to try and figure out what makes them special, and to find a way to prevent them from finding and protecting the Tree of Life, etc. The members all use their powers to escape from the government facility and this is where theories say that the story in "Ko Ko Bop" picks up right after they have escaped in "Lucky One". The blue Ko Ko Bop drink that Suho mixes and the members drink -- which I now think is connected to the blue drink we see Kai drinking in their "Don't Fight the Feeling" MV and the blue drink that we see everyone drinking in their new "Cream Soda" MV -- and the pills or wafers you see them eating, was originally thought to be an elixir that is helping the members to detox from the drugs the Red Force gave them when they were being held against their will in the "Lucky One" MV. Remember, blue represents EXO and red represents the Red Force. When we see red and blue lights flashing in the same scene that's usually thought to represent a moment when EXO and the Red Force are in conflict or they are fighting with each other, etc. So that's why we think the blue drink is something good that is meant to help the EXO members. According to SM the story in "Ko Ko Bop" also shows the members soon after they have arrived on Earth and they are all experimenting with their powers. That is why in "Ko Ko Bop" we see Kai with the power of teleportation using his power to levitate and we see him do the "treadmill" move next to the car. Suho, with the power to control water, jumps into the water and disappears, and later appears inside the washing machine, etc. Xiumin has the power of snow/ice/frost, so he is using his power to create a cloud to fill the glass. Sehun uses his power to control wind to make objects float in the air. D.O. accidentally uses his power of strength/force and splits open the ground when he falls down. We see Chen with the power of thunder/lightning/electricity playing with his power. Baekhyun uses his power of light as he throws the ball in the air and creates that huge flash of light, and Chanyeol uses his power of fire to create the fireworks when he bounces the ball into the sky. The car also looks like it's driving by itself because they are using their powers to control the car, etc. Their unbridled use of their powers and the haphazard way they play with their environment around them can be explained by the fact that they were drugged in "Lucky One" and while they are still dealing with the drugs in their system, in "Ko Ko Bop" their inhibitions are lowered and they use their powers without caution. Those tattoos we can see are fake, but like everything SM does, they aren't just random tattoos, they are specific images and messages as part of EXO's storyline. So part of their story goes: The members were trapped in the maze by the Red Force in their "Overdose" MV and while they were trapped, they were captured and moved to the lab in "Lucky One" and after escaping in "Lucky One" we see them detoxing in "Ko Ko Bop." However, since then, we now have more information after EXO's "Obsession" MV part of the story was released. In "Obsession" we have discovered that the Red Force has created X-EXO clones. So, some theories now think that instead of "Ko Ko Bop" being about the EXO members, it might be showing us X-EXO. In "Obsession," the members in the bright colors with the crazy hair and makeup were the X-EXO clones and the members in the all-black outfits were EXO. Therefore, now some theories think that maybe because "Ko Ko Bop" is so colorful, that it is showing us X-EXO right after they were brought to life, and this is their first time out in the world. So, X-EXO are playing with their powers and trying to figure out how they work, and they are getting acclimated to their environment, etc. But, as you can see, to make it even more difficult to follow the story, nothing is in chronological order. As fans we have to become detectives and analyze everything that EXO does in order to try and figure out where each piece fits within the larger storyline. Although, at this point, it's only theories and educated guesses. With every new release from EXO it adds another piece to their story. Sometimes that new piece helps to confirm what we thought was happening and other times it turns everything on its head and we realize that what we thought was happening wasn't even close. We can only hope that someday SM will finally explain everything, so we will know whether what we have been thinking all along is correct.

I don't think you can go wrong watching any of EXO's videos. My personal favorite is The Eldorado, but that's probably because it's a live performance. They are so magnetic on stage. I also enjoy the dance practice to The Eve, but that's just a Kai thing. Ha ha.

The story in this MV is that Taemin and his love were in a car accident that ended at the bottom of the lake, he survived but she didn't. his grief and love for her were so great that he turned into a phoenix, he then used his new powers to bring her back to life in exchange for his own life. he then waits for her in the afterlife for her to join him (hopefully after a long happy life..).

Taemin's "Flame of Love" is telling a story of love and passion. As Es explained, most interpret it as Taemin and the girl were in a car accident in this MV and the girl died. I think Taemin was so distraught that he was incarnated as a phoenix in order to use the phoenix's powers to bring her back to life. As you might know, phoenix are mythical birds that have healing powers, etc. But as we see in the MV, as soon as she was brought back to life, the price Taemin had to pay was with his soul and he traded places with her, where he was forced to wait for her until their souls meet up again after death. That's why when we see her hug Taemin we see his soul leave his body and he is wearing that white outfit, which is supposed to be a death shroud, as he crosses over into the afterlife to wait for her to join him. Taemin gave up his life to allow her to live -- he made the ultimate sacrifice for love. His "Flame of Love" burned so brightly and passionately that he was willing to give up everything to have her live. In the end we see their souls meet again to spend eternity together. "Flame of Love" is another one of Taemin's Japanese tracks that is true art. It's one of the most beautiful MVs. Even though this choreography was complex, I am sure it was no problem for him, after all he is one of THE BEST dancers in the industry. LOL As Es mentioned, this was another one of his songs that was choreographed by Sugawara Koharu who also was the choreographer for "Sayonara Hitori"and was featured in Taemin's "Move" MV, among others.

The radish is a phenomenal idea since you don't have a light stick. Maybe you could create your own with a flashlight and some clear plastic. Just color the plastic with markers, use a little duct tape, and you're good to go. The more sparkly things you can glue onto it the better. I'm hoping you'll have the same experience I did at my first kpop concert. I made so many friends from across the country and around the world. I still connect with them on socials, and I even met up with two of them at the second concert I attended in a whole different section of the country. Fun fact: Although it looks like Super Junior's "One More Time (Otra Vez)" was filmed in somewhere like Las Vegas, they were actually in Macao China, which is kind of like the Las Vegas of China, and it was filmed at the MGM Resort there. (Check out the VLive post of their SJ Returns reality show to see a behind the scenes of them shooting this MV. It has English subs.) Most of the behind the scenes footage looks like Super Junior filmed by themselves, so I think the reason it looks like they don't have very much interaction with Reik is because the parts with Reik may have been filmed separately. Reik is a pop-rock band from Mexico, which is a trio that is made up of the main vocalist and the two guitar players and they are indeed popular in Latin America. There were 8 SuJu members + 3 Reik members in this MV. As Es mentioned, we didn't see Heechul sing or dance in the MV. Not only did he not participate in the dancing, but he was recovering from some health issues at this time that prevented him from singing or rapping in this song as well. So, that's why we saw him sitting in the chair and only killing us with his looks this time. LOL This MV came out in October 2018, so at this point the oldest members Leeteuk and Heechul were 34 and Ryeowook, one of the maknaes of the group, was 31. This MV was actually the first MV that Ryeowook was in after being released from his military service, and Kyuhyun wasn't in the MV because he was still doing his time as a public servant as part of his military obligations. If you like SuJu's Latin vibe, check out the Korean version of "I Think I" (they also have a Japanese version with its own MV.) and "Animals", or -- if you want to see why Es says SuJu aren't normal "real people" LOL -- check out "Ahora Te Puedes Marchar", which is a remake/parody of a famous Spanish song by Luis Miguel. ;)

Leeteuk said on Weekly Idol that the MV was done by the same director as a Bruno Mars MV who "got paid a lot, but we weren't happy with the results" so they reshot it in Korea. So I'm assuming that for the most part the Reik footage is all that survived the South American "original" MV. Explaining the very separated feel. 😂😂😂

I love the music, but you're right there's a disconnect between the artists in the mv. I wonder if they had only one day to shoot the scenes where the two groups are together, so they probably didn't have much time to build connections. I would love to hear more music from the two.

Es did a pretty good job of explaining all the points in SHINee's "Atlantis" MV, but I just wanted to point out a few other things that I think makes this MV extra interesting. As I interpret the MV, the convenience store is a cover for the fact that it sits on top of a portal to the city of Atlantis. To the average person, the store just looks like a regular store, but if you are in on the secret you know that if you head to the storage room or basement, etc. you will find a magical elevator/submarine that will take you to "Atlantis." I think that move in the choreography where Key and Minho make the circle is them gathering all their power and love and they are blasting it all to the fans (Shawols) or they are sending all their love to the girl who they are singing about in the song, etc. Like a superhero who is summoning all their powers. Because the SHINee members are sort of supposed to have power as the keepers of the portal to "Atlantis," etc. Plus, if I had to guess, it also might be something linking SHINee to SM's Universe. Most of SM's groups' storylines are connected in some way and they are all part of one big story. For example, I think the soda can we see appear in Key's hand in "Atlantis" is connected to the soda can we see in Key's solo "Hate That ..." MV. (However, I'm not yet sure whether the can magically pops into his hand in "Atlantis" because it is coming from its original location in "Hate That ..." or if it appears in "Hate That ..." because Key brought it from "Atlantis." ) Because Minho writes all his own rap sections in SHINee's songs they are all very meaningful, and are strategically placed in the song for a reason. If you pay attention to his lyrics you will see they have a lot of deep meaning and they enhance the story and add more depth to the song. For example, the long sss sound you hear at the end of his rap lines in "Atlantis" are supposed to mimic the sound of waves as they crash on shore or against the rocks, etc. Minho is actually quite poetic when it comes to his songwriting. I'm an artist, and I can't tell you how much of a chokehold this color palette had on my work for over 2 years. It really transformed my color choices. I've had to move on from it a bit because trends change, but it still lives in my heart. It's just beautiful. I remember when the people who discovered SHINee during DCM era reacted to Atlantis. You could see they were unsure of what was going on. I just laughed to myself. This is who SHINee is. Once you think you know who they are they do something you don't expect. This is why I'm a stan. They always keep me guessing.

Whenever this song shuffles on to my playlist at the gym I stop working out and just dance and vibe (and mouth "rap" Monho's part and Onew's long note).

GFriend were just beginning to explore more mature concepts when they were abandoned. I think that Kay may be interested to see where that has now continued through Viviz in their latest B-side video “Untied” which is firmly out of “innocence” territory and into “sexy” zone.

Thirteen year old me would have loved this. I absolutely love Taeyeon's voice. I like her latest solo work, and of course the duet with Key. I didn't realize so many of them were well known actresses too. A lot of talent in that group.
