Hello madam . Will you please inform what are the chances of menieres getting bilateral? Does labyrinthectomy reduce chances of menieres getting bilateral. Please share your opinion

@@vikrantsingh9204 evidence shows 10 -11% bilateral occurance and 11-12% getting bilateral in followup period of 10 years. Regarding labrynthectomy as prophylaxis, there is no logic behind that and also no data available. That is open for discussion

Now you know the acoustic reflex arc, isn't it? In simple terms; the contraction of stapedius muscle stiffens the middle ear, thus decreasing middle ear admittance. this is measured using tympanometry

Currently no drug in market has shown long term reduction of tinnitus. Nootropil tablet 800mg thrice daily to start with and reducing dosage as per individual patient , found to give some reduction in severity of tinnitus. may need drug for 3-6 months.

Icthammol glycerine wick is useful in case of oedema of EAC in external otitis. Oral antibiotics are used in case of suspected or anticipated bacterial infection
