Thank you for writing this incredible book, Mr. McCammon. I finished it last night and cried bittersweet tears. I bought a paperback copy online on a used books site. I feel lucky to have experienced the joy and magic of this sublime read. I wish my mother was alive to read Boy's Life, as she would have adored it as I did. This will forever be on my shelf and I know I will revisit Cory, Rebel, The Lady, Vernon, The Candystick Kid, the beast from the Lost World, Old Moses, Princey, Franklin... gosh I could go on all day. Thank you for the magical journey.

I am in Maine. If I could afford to, I would take Amtrak there and back. My favorite book from him is Boy’s Life. It is an annual read for me every July 4th. I never fail to learn something new each time I read it.

I have Ians trilogy set and have read them twice and I'll read them again in the near future I'm sure. Great books, full of info and very easy to read. I found it hard to put the books down once I started to read. I also have Rick Atkinsons three book trilogy and have read them twice. I have about 70 books on WW2 and I go through and read them through and then start over. Keep up the good work Ian, really enjoy your books.

The interviewer here is a little too Southern-fried for my taste, but I enjoyed the video. Mr. Toll's Pacific War trilogy is a fine history, and a very good read.

Ron Rash is an amazing person. I’ve taken three courses from him, and they were the best classes I’ve ever taken in my life! He’s a truly inspirational professor and such a wonderful writer. It was so nice to see this interview. I definitely miss being in his presence. A truly remarkable person.

What an incredible story, I enjoyed the book very much. It blows my mind to read about the many unfathomable things our troops went through to rid the world of tyranny not even 100 years ago. The bravery of all these men is unparalleled. Thank you for your service Henry!

Robert McCammon is an extraordinary talent. Read Swan Song years ago. Discovered the Matthew Corbett novels by accident on Audible. Amazing work and the narrator is absolutely perfect. Talk about immersive.

I m a big Rick Bragg fan, and own this book and pretty near all of his books, appreciate and watched your interview with him and thoroughly enjoyed it as I’m sure you did as well. Hope he’s got more books in him as I and many others really enjoy his style and misadventures and can relate… Bill!

I met Rick when I was a Junior in high school. He came to speak at The University of North Alabama. I was in awe of him. At the time I was a teenager and told him I wanted to write a book as well. He signed a note saying “for Isabella, write it.” It’s been about 8 years since then. I started working on my book this month. I will always love Alabama authors like Rick who paved the way for all of us.

OK...this was a great video...but I feel like I want clarification of something Mr. Toll said. He commented that just before December 7, 1941, the isolationists were getting stronger, and I really want to know more about why he would make that argument. We know the isolationists held sway in the election of 1940, but immediately after being elected, FDR went on a major public relation offensive to get Americans to support more US participation...he gave his "Arsenal of Democracy" talk in December of 1940. According to the polling data I have seen, Americans had come around significantly to accepting the need for war, with 70 percent in November saying that it was more important to defeat Nazism than it was for the US to stay out of war. So I wonder what evidence Mr. Toll uses for his contention that US isolationist ideas were somehow on the rise in late 1941?

There are quite a few books by this author that are good. Obviously, Swan Song--a book that many compare to King's, The Stand but which I think is a much better book because in places where King was not able to write scenes, between Mother Abigail and Flagg for example. His other wonderful reads are Wolf's Hour (werewolves in WW2), Night Boat (haunted German sub), and especially, Boy's Life. I will not tell you anything about Boy's Life only that it is a MUST read. Wonderfully written and it leaves a lingering memory that you will never forget.
