Terrible performance. Donny osmond is spectacular on this song. I am not a fan of Donny osmond at all, but his performance of this song is amazing. This guy is terrible compared to Donny osmond. I’m not judging anyone. Just telling the truth

Many of true comments ,But what chance does any body have when our so called judges select an act like dead wood and Jed wood, or a dog to get into a final ,yes he is brilliant and just knew his job but to outspoken has he wouldn’t stand the shit from anyone and he was trained to the top qualifications , ring able to play 8 instruments

Amazing song. One of my top 5 favourite songs ever. I went to see the musical in 1992 when I was 11. Philip Schofield had just took over from Jason Donovan. They were auditioning around the county in schools for the kids parts....oh how I wanted them to come to my school.

he is great- and great for the part - this is a play and can forever have new versions but I have to say Donny is THE Jacob and is perhaps the most brilliant casting choice ever

@candiceschoice9416 жыл бұрын
+Nerissa Bodwell true, but Donny sounds identical live. He did it live for 6 years, I'm sure there's a video or recording of him doing it live to check out. His version is the best male solo in a musical I've ever heard, imho.

Fr those who think it's that slow, not really. slightly slower - yes, so it adds up by the end. [I have an app on my phone where you can tap the beat with your finger (you need to tap really steadily!) and it'll play a metronome click-type sound every beat as prescribed by what was tapped in.] In music the speed (tempo) typically reported in beats per minute. The movie and most other versions: about 140 BPM; this : 134 BPM.

Good rendition but they sound like memorized lines. Donny actually sounds like he's telling a story to children.
@noahhernandez19258 жыл бұрын
this is not his best rendition of this song. He tried the octave switch at the end like Donny and failed miserably. not saying he can't sing but he needs to stay in his range. He does this part wonderfully but a crappy phone recording I saw while video surfing, has him doing it ten times better. Donny is just the better singer though. he consistently hits the high c with the same power every time he does this song. watching Donny do this live is just as incredible as the recorded and edited film version. I read a comment saying not everybody is always on pitch live. I don't know where you go for plays but STOP. If your pitchy live it better be a youth theatre.
@chandlerstevenbaumgartner50118 жыл бұрын
+noah hernandez 1) At no part in this song did he fail. All of his interval jumps were spot on. And 2) If you ever want to be taken seriously while critiquing any sort of musical performance, never say pitchy. That was a term coined by American Idol and is not an actual musical term.
@noahhernandez19258 жыл бұрын
+Chandler Baumgartner OK. 1) he failed at the 1:14 mark. 2.) thank you for the etymology of "pitchy". doesn't change the fact that he was pitchy .
@chandlerstevenbaumgartner50118 жыл бұрын
+noah hernandez oh you poor soul, i bet you don't even know the difference between a natural minor scale and an aeolian scale. But please enlighten me with your far superior musical knowledge.
@noahhernandez19258 жыл бұрын
I'm not going to do this with you. Anybody with ears could tell you he was off pitch many times throughout the song. your close mindedness is taking this argument nowhere.
@chandlerstevenbaumgartner50118 жыл бұрын
HIs intonation or as you'd say "not being pitchy" was spot on throughout. Your lack of knowledge on this subject means you're making arguments based on ignorance. Do me a favor and take an aural skills class then come back when you can use your ears properly.
