So cool. I love the idea of the Brainterface. It seems like a cool concept. I'm not sure if it's the interface or just you playing but this was very serene and engrossing.

It’s been a little while since I tuned into your channel. I see you got one of those Behringer reverbs. It looks like the Buchla rack has gotten bigger as well. Sounds great! Gotta love those Echoplexes.
@mfirman23 күн бұрын
Yes, the Behringer reverb was something I just couldn't pass up. I, for the most part, don't like spring reverbs (generally too noisy), but for the price, I just had to. As it turns out, it is the quietest spring reverb I've ever encountered. It sounds great with the Mellotron (which is what I'm using it for here). The Plexes aren't being used here, but yes, they are wonderful.

@@mfirman I've seen some iOS apps with the Mellotron sounds, might be worth looking at. Your piece reminded me a little of the alto flute that comes in around 2:40 on this piece. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eNmal9udssq5Z58.htmlsi=D-sP50PkuJl1vynC

I put a phaser on the big gong for this, and I'm not so sure I like it. It does a nice job when I do a sustaining tone on the gong, but the individual gong hits were a bit washed out tonally. The next video with the gong will be gong with no phaser. But thanks for listening.

great tones! what's the little box with wooden cheeks that's above and to the left of the Lyra-8?

Thank you. It is a SoundMachines B1Braininterface. It is not being used for this video. It converts brain waves (sent to it by a BlueTooth headset) to CV of various types (from various brainwave types).

I'm primarily a shakuhachi player and play in a traditional style. Every once in a while I combine it with the electronics. Sometimes it works, and sometimes, not so much. It, like all my musical explorations, is a work in progress.

Awesome 👏 how do you make the lyra sound “less noisy “ ? … that talking synth is great too ! Thanks for sharing!
@mfirman6 ай бұрын
Actually mine isn't that noisy when I keep the volume down and don't use the overdrive. For this recording I'm pumping it through a Warm Jet Phaser which is a bit noisy in its own right, but again I don't crank the mixer channels to the max. In the phones when nothing is playing, the only thing I hear is the faint sound of the Jet Phaser "Breathing" (they all do this).
