How hot was it in may/June and what factor sun cream did you use to not burn and tan?

Just before I left my house with my shinny new and not cheap Hobby Sport Cub S, my daughter said "Dad, aren't you supposed to put your name on it, somewhere in case you lose it?" Hey now, I'm the one that gives stern advice not the one who takes it! That thought out of my mind for about 45 minutes but would be with me for days, yes, even weeks so far. Now, out in the desert miles from anyone on a dirt road that is traveled perhaps two times a week. My maiden flight ready to begin I push the battery into it's coffin like holder and press again, then again. Is the batter secure? So I pressed it again. Surely that's how it works, the factory wouldn't design such an obvious fault. Off the little bugger went, on SAFE, LMNOP and everything else it had going on in those flashing electronics. I couldn't wait to hit my PANIC button because every other flight I've had in my beginners life needed it but it didn't exist. Now, nothing would prevent me from having a great flying experience not a shitty on like all the others that really disappointed me. Away it climbed steady as a rock, climbing, climbing, now it's time to level off but what, no responce, nose down, nothing. "Dad" said my daughter, what's that hanging off the front?" Damn, that's the battery and it's altering my C.G. to the rear and causing the plane to climb but it climber level, it got smaller so I turned it, it turned, and I turned it, then it flew into a thermal, smaller it got so i chopped power all the way off as a car came round the corner and getting out of it way I lost track of it. I couldn't see a thing after my eye lock was broker, not any longer at all. Standing there with the controller in my hands sending out signals into outer space And, and no one would ever know who it belonged to or who in the hell was that guy driving out here in no mans land. "The perfect storm" A dumb pilot, weak as hell velcro, and a ghost car all coming together ( OH, a thermal too) All coming together to insure the tragic outcome. Two day I searched in the desert when I could have warn a sign around my neck at some random intersection saying "Lost my R C airplane will work for velcro." So, Mates don't feel so bloody bad, It happens, that's why we register our cars.

I'm as guilty as the next dude, I can't remember when the last time it was I did a RANGE CHECK!! OUCH. This video serves as a reminder. Range check 1200 feet across a field, Point the plane in all 4 different directions. Get a buddy with a cell phone, ya, I never do that. Thanx for waking me up, That plane flying off really sucked, nothing funny about it.

I did this same thing two days after I got mine into the woods and then to a sport cub the first flight just like that and havnt flown again very expensive three days lmao

this happened to me when i let my friend fly mines. We found it stuck in a tree. Had to use a soccer ball to knock it down.

i had a few beers n joints before the flight ...plus never flown before n to see my mate laugh so hard in the lifetime I've known him it was well worth it ;)

Got this plane as a Christmas present, haven't flown it yet, but I promise I'll take the advise of the manual and not fly it by homes and vehicle parking lots or next to a bunch of trees. This video just proved... That's sound advise. Wow! Sorry for your loss!

The transmitter antenna should not point straight out but bent alongside horizontal. Pointing the antenna straight out puts very little signal in the plane's direction.

Write your name and phone number on the underside of the plane so a thoughtful neighbor can return it to you if this happens again

The transmitter should have been on before plugging in flight battery. The plane probably didn't bind correctly. Then signal was lost. To bad you lost your new super cub.

And he didn't keep the plane still when he fist connected the battery so the gyros could properly calibrate.

I had a similar experience with mine - it went off piste in high winds and ended up circling slowly over an estate where i couldn't see it (behind trees). I managed to guide it back by running about after it with the transmitter

Never really found out, Lee flying under the influence didnt really help! Go out and have a go Roger, It is a really fun hobby and you will get some good laughs out of doing it :D

love the video, love Bo Phut!! Can anyone tell me if the restaurant called Tong Chai, as you turn into the fishermans village is still open??

I spent 2 months in Bo Phut and I really liked it there. Not as busy as Cheweng and not so many beach hawkers. Really chilled place, have fun and If you like Indian food, I can recommend the restaurant as you enter the village, just right of the little T junction. Yum Yum! :)
