This doctrine is madness. First, nothing new is needed to complete the work of Christ; no new fiat or revelation can be added to the deposit of faith. Second, private revelation cannot contain new information necessary to the salvation of souls, otherwise the saints who lived before Piccarretta's writings would have been deprived of a substantive aid to Christian life. Fr. Terrence Staples of the Diocese of Arlington, Virginia, wrote an incisive critique of the Divine Will: "Everything we need for holiness and increase in faith has been handed on from the apostles once and for all. What was handed on by the apostles comprises everything that serves to make the People of God live their lives in holiness and increase their faith. In this way the Church, in her doctrine, life, and worship, perpetuates and transmits to every generation all that she herself is, all that she believes."

The case for LP and the DW has been HALTED: "the arguments put forward by the dicastery, which are of three kinds: theological, Christological, and anthropological... " "On January 24, Bishop Benoît Bertrand of Mende, president of the French bishops’ Episcopal Doctrinal Commission, shared a message from the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints addressed to the bishops of France. The message conveyed the decision to halt the examination of the case of Luisa Piccarreta, (for Beatification) initiated in 1994 by the now deceased Italian Archbishop Giovanni Battista Pichierri of Trani." LaCroix magazine "Luisa is a poor soul tormented by demons..." kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jrZlkpti3MjOaWw.html Specific theological errors: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pNppYLtezaqulYE.html I became a Catholic in 2014. Shortly thereafter, I was drawn into the "Divine Will" group in my area (upstate NY). The meetings often felt "otherworldly" and would go by very quickly. Being new to the faith, I was taken in, except for a few recurring things: weirdly chaotic people and meetings, and the writings often sounded humanly sexual. When I would mention how strange that was, people would tell me "It's mystical..." Also, women were often leading, even leading the priests. there was a weird "aire" of being superior and greatly mystical-- like the believers in the Divine Will movement have some secret knowledge. Luisa is completing the salvation task after Jesus and Mary completed it their way?? Huh?? Luisa acts like the third person of some new trinity?? It felt cultish. Okay, after about 18 months, I was out. This "master's in Theology..." teacher supports LP?? And all these comments are from people smitten with the DW. Yikes. What are their thoughts and beliefs now that the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints has HALTED LP case--? Do we obey the Church or follow what we want and feel is right? How is that different than what the protestants do?? If we're Catholic, we believe the Holy Catholic Church is the true Church of Christ. If the Dicastery of Causes of Saints HALTS a teaching, we can't obey the Church and continue to practice what has been halted. That's disordered.

About being told not to read Luisa Piccarreta's writings. Actually, the faithful have not been supposed to read Luisa Piccarreta's works OUTSIDE OF CHURCH OVERSIGHT. These were guidelines for the Faithful as issued by the Archbishop of Trani: "The Communique of the then Archbishop of Trani, Most Rev. Giovanni Battista Pichierri, of November 1st, 2012, remains the most recent official statement on these matters. In order not to prejudice the Cause and scandalize others, he reiterated that all things be done in communion with the local Ordinaries (e.g. prayer groups, reading of the writings etc.), that unauthorized translations not be promoted, and that explanations inconsistent with the teaching of the Church not be promulgated, and that the critical edition of the writings with theological explanations be awaited, as well as other requests previously made in prior communications." Note that unauthorized translations not be promoted... Where do all the websites and popular books get their Luisa quotes from, if there was no authorized translation released. The answer: These authors and self-proclaimed experts on Luisa are using unauthorized versions and promoting explanations that are not approved by the Church. They get money and attention for pushing their ideas without waiting or following the guidelines of the Catholic Church. www.ewtn.com/catholicism/answers/luisa-piccarreta-14221

How can anyone explain away this news story? Below: Beatification process of Luisa Piccarreta suspended Author of numerous mystical writings, Luisa Piccarreta (1865-1947) felt called to spread the message of the "divine will" but whose writings, as early as 1938, raised doctrinal problems By Geneviève Pasquier February 2nd, 2024 at 02:04 pm (Europe\Rome). Updated February 7th, 2024 at 06:27 pm (Europe\Rome) The file is suspended. The Catholic Church will not beatify Luisa Piccarreta, an Italian mystic known for her spiritual exercises centered on union with the will of God On January 24, Bishop Benoît Bertrand of Mende, president of the French bishops’ Episcopal Doctrinal Commission, shared a message from the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints addressed to the bishops of France. The message conveyed the decision to halt the examination of the case of Luisa Piccarreta, initiated in 1994 by the now deceased Italian Archbishop Giovanni Battista Pichierri of Trani. Why does the Church reproach this Italian mystic, who has been gaining interest among priests and laypeople in recent years? Bishop Bertrand repeats the arguments put forward by the dicastery, which are of three kinds: theological, Christological, and anthropological. Piccarreta's conception of the divine will "does not leave man the possibility to exercise his free will," it does not incorporate "the primacy of God's merciful and unconditional love," and, finally, there is "little or no mention of the resurrection of Christ," "Christian hope, and ecclesial communion." Bishop Bertrand, therefore, advises caution regarding the dissemination of Piccarreta's message, echoing the warning of Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, who had asked him in a April 18, 2022 letter, to "accordingly evaluate the popular dissemination of such elements to avoid confusion among believers." Messenger of the "divine will"? Piccarreta was born in 1865 in the province of Bari, in the south of Italy. According to her, she bore the stigmata invisibly. Ill and bedridden from the age of 16 until her death in 1947, she joined the Third Order of Saint Dominic at the age of 18. Five years later, she said she experienced a mystical marriage. "The Holy Trinity took possession of my heart," she recounts in her writings -- and felt called to "live in the Divine Will" and to become its messenger. The Archbishop of Trani at that time assigned her a special confessor. He set limits on her mortifications by ordering her to eat at least once a day. Until her death, she would have confessors assigned by successive archbishops of her archdiocese. Starting February 28, 1891, at the request of her spiritual director at the time, she began writing a diary recounting her mystical experiences. It took the form of 36 handwritten notebooks, totaling about 10,000 pages. In 1938, she stopped her writings on the order of her confessor, following the placing of her first three volumes on the Index by the Holy Office that lists publications deemed heretical or contrary to morality. In 1987, an association to make her life known, “Associazione Luisa Piccarreta” was founded -- even though her writings had been placed on the Index. Twice, the Vatican's Dicastery for the Doctrine of Faith declined to provide its "nihil obstat" (no objection) for the advancement of her beatification process due to concerns regarding her writings. However, she was eventually declared a Servant of God after passing a preliminary, diocesan stage for sainthood in the Catholic Church in 2005 and advancing her cause for beatification. Since then, her popularity has grown through the Internet, and Catholic groups have even formed to study her writings.

When will Daniel O'Connor issue a correction to his earlier stance on Luisa Piccarreta's "approval"? The Dicastery for the Causes of Saints suspended her cause earlier this year (2024) owing to Christological, theological and Anthropological errors in the writings. Also, the Benedictine Daughters of the Divine Will is NOT a religious order but a public association of the faithful. They dress up as religious sisters, but are not professed religious. They moved recently from Italy to the Diocese of Knoxville. Neither the website for the Daughters nor an article in the Knoxville diocesan newspaper (below) mentions Cardinal Burke at all.

Melanie, you are incorrect with this statement - owing to Christological, theological and Anthropological errors in the writings. There are no issues with her writings. There have been no issues for over 100 years. Many Theologans have studied these writings and have found no error. They are approved. If there was as you wrote: " owing to Christological, theological and Anthropological errors in the writings then that statement would be sent around the world. But because there is no error no one in an authoritative position has said that they were in error. These writings began in the late 1800's there were many Priests that came to her house and witnessed her and the state that Our Lord put her in. There were Archbishops, Bishops and Priests who witnessed Luisa and read her writings. Also, Pope Pius the X read her writings on the 24 Hours of the Passion and gave them His approval. If there was something ary with her writings The Holy Spirit would not of had the seat of Peter approve anything. God does not allow confusion. The cause of Luisa was paused, not stopped. Pope Francis sent his priest to the Archdiocese of Trani in 2020. May 13, 2020 to be exact to collect all the writings and all the notes and so forth that the theologians have written on these writings. They were approved. The actual translation of the cause of the pause that was given by the archdioces of Trani to the Association of Luisa ( this association has the Bishops Authority to exist and is the voice of the archdioces of Trani) said her cause has been paused because there is to much suffering in these writings. If you were to read them you understand what the Vatican was saying. As for the Nuns, again you are incorrect. They first received the approval of Cardinal Burke to be professed and then they were professed under a Bishop in Italy. So no worries they are professed Benedictin Nuns of the Divine Will. There are also Priests under full communion with Holy Mother Church. They were ordained under the Apostolic Authority of the Vatican. There is however a 3rd order of Benedictine Nuns of the Divine Will they are as you say an association of the faithful. This again was given permission to exist by Cardinal Burke. I hope this clears some of the confusion up for you, and remember no one is forcing anyone to read these volumes, but oh are they sublime.

@@QOLDW No issues for over 100 years? What about the placing of several of Luisa's volumes on the Index of Prohibited Books in 1938--when the rest of her works were taken to the Vatican archives and not freely circulated? Reading books on the Index during its lifetime--it only ended in 1966!--could incur the penalty of excommunication. Also please explain why the Archbishop of Seoul and the Bishops Conference of Korea have disbanded groups devoted to Divine Will in Korea, and revoked licenses to publish her works? (Without pointing to Daniel O'Connor's vitriolic video in which he called the (unknown) person who wrote the Korean bishop statement a "clown." )
@QOLDW
@QOLDW 2 ай бұрын
@@Melanie-ec8uc Yes the volumes were placed on the Index of Prohibited Books in 1938. This was after the first 19 volumes received full approval from the Asrchbishops and Pope, but a man, (this is all in her biography "Son of My Will" that was published by the Vatican in 2015) who had a grievance wrote the Pope, and the Pope put the volumes all 36 on the Index of Prohibited Books in 1938. But they were removed with permission from Cardinal Ratzinger and again handed to Pope John Paul the II in 1996. Several of our canonized Saints had their volumes put on the Index of Prohibited Books. As for what is happening in Korea, I have no idea. It was the South Koreans who paid for the first edition of the biography on Luisa and the country has always had a strong devotion to Luisa and her writings. However, they are not banned in other countries. Again the Vatican published her biography. When in hostory has that ever happened on a person that was in heresy? She is also a servant of God.
@Melanie-ec8uc
@Melanie-ec8uc 2 ай бұрын
@@QOLDW No, the volumes did not receive the approval of the Pope before they went on the Index. Honestly, it's not the Pope's job to offer nihil obstats or imprimaturs! Luisa's books were removed from the Vatican Archives when the Index was abrogated in 1966 in connection with Vatican 2 by Pope Paul VI. Servant of God simply means her cause is being examined. There is sufficient interest and documentation from the diocese to look into the matter. It is not the equivalent of being declared Venerable, or being beatified. The Vatican Press publishes lots of books on lives of Servant of God, but that is not a formal declaration of anything in terms of a cause for sainthood. Other people have been proposed for beatification but the causes have been suspended and never taken up again. Perhaps you should read more of the criticisms of Piccarreta's writings by the likes of Servant of God Fr. John Hardon SJ. When the Prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints says there are "Christological, theologican and Anthropological issues in your writings, it is NOT A GOOD SIGN and pretty gosh-darn END OF THE ROAD.

In the Book of Heaven, I found this passage on the consecrated Host as the “dwelling place” and “cortege” of Jesus, which contradicts the Catholic dogma that the consecrated Host is Jesus Himself literally : Book of Heaven, Volume 15 - June 18, 1923 : “Every Sacramental Host was entrusted to Me and contains the dwelling place of my humanity and the cortege of honors of my divinity.”
@QOLDW
@QOLDW 2 ай бұрын
I am guessing you think there is a contradiction here. But, it isn't. Jesus says that the Host contains His Humanity. The Host (the bread=dwelling) of His humanity so yes every Host is truly His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. the definition of cortege is - A train of attendants, as of a distinguished person; a retinue. So again, Jesus is saying a cortege of honors of my Divinity. in other words a train of Honors, a train of Glory of His Divinity. This reading actually draws the reader into more knowledge about the Holy Eucharist. It does not deminsh the truth but enhances the knowledge you already have. Read these readings slowly and let them draw you into what Our Lord is telling us. If it is a dwelling of His Humanity than His Humanity is dwelling in the Host, and if there is a cortege it is the Honors and Glory of God that is drawing the soul to the Lord in His Sacramental Life. Mary
