I’m not sure tbh. If you’re looking to do it, you’ll need to use a data hub like Power My Analytics.

I've created thay exact toolbox in power bi in several different ways. I can agree it looks easier to do in thay studio, but that doesn't make it "better". I can do that in tabaleu and quicksight also. I'd still choose power bi over either. What makes power bi "better" (imo) then tabaleu or quicksight (never used the google one) is simplely tje ability to customize everything to whay I want and need. Yes, something are "harder" in power bi b/c of thay but I value the flexibility over ease of use.

I appreciate your point of view. I’m not sure you can make an educated judgement if you haven’t even tried “that Google one”. I’m not saying that Looker Studio is more powerful or better than Power BI overall, because it isn’t. I’m saying that is better for Business Intelligence. Because it is.

Are you based in the USA? Would your certificate be accepted here? How does it compare to Google’s or Microsoft’s BI certificates? Will a potential employer require that I have a certificate? How does your certificate or any certificate compare to the bachelors degree or masters degree that I see many schools in the United States are promoting? Would a $500 investment make me competitive with someone who made a $5K, $15K or $50K investment in their education? What I am really asking is what I can really expect to accomplish after I spend a studying and preparing to transition from a career in education to a BI career? (In the US, teachers are required to sign a yearly contract.) I look forward to your reply.

I’m based in Europe (France). I don’t see why the BI Analyst Starter Program Certification would not be accepted in the US. The main difference between the Google/Microsoft certificates and ours is that ours is 100% focused on Business Intelligence and landing you a job as an entry-level BI Analyst. Theirs tend to be far more general and “analytics” focused. Our program has been designed by someone who has worked exclusively in BI for the past 15 years. Someone who has worked on hundreds of BI projects for hundreds of different organisations. In terms of the price comparison, our program is by far and away the best value out there for learning Business Intelligence tools and skills. If you compare our syllabus to that of Tripleten, for example, we pretty much teach the same things. Except they charge $6000. Our program is very new and we’re keeping the price low to get students through the door and build up some social proof. Once we become more established, the price will definitely be increasing. Why don’t we organise a Zoom call where you can tell me more about your educational goals and I will give you honest advice about whether our program would be best for you? If that sounds good, please feel free to reach out via the website (footer).

Hi! Almost found what I was looking for in this awesome video, thanks. Do you know if there’s a way to use a data range control as a calendar table? This is, that it uses two different date columns to filter? Both columns are in the same blended table. Thanks in advance.
@LearnBI7 күн бұрын
A date filter control applies the date range to whichever date field is selected in the widget of each visualisation. So it can apply to more than one date. But each visualisation cannot have more than one date included. Hope this helps!
@manuelespitia107 күн бұрын
@@LearnBI thanks, it helps!! Just one more question: for a table visual that has the date columns in it… is it possible to filter it in that way using a date range control?
@LearnBI7 күн бұрын
A date range filter control will apply the date range to any visualization that has a date field included in the query. It will use that date field to filter the rows in the result.

I agree with the KPI cards. To create that in Power BI you will need at least 3 measures and if you are to add absolute value then u need even more.
@tsojin88464 күн бұрын
That doesn't make it "better" just easier. I've not used this studio but it seem similar to the tabaleu v power bi debate. Tabaleu let you do a lot via the UI but the instant you can't do it via the UI either you can't do it period or it is WAY more difficult then power bi. Power bi's greatest strength is it's flexibility in both modeling and making visuals (charticulator, py/r, declaritive)
@roycemekolle733412 сағат бұрын
@@tsojin8846 Looker studio as a stand alone tool is not even close to power BI. The lack of data transformation and cleaning means it's not very useful on its own except when combined with something like SQL. But I understand where he is coming from.

@@LearnBI 1. Time. Yes, in looker studio learning curve is smooth, but once you master DAX and modeling, time calculations will become almost as easy. 2. Yeah, it's cloud-based, but the number of features is very small, and it can't handle like 200M rows data. 3. SQL-based means it can't be used as semantic layer
@LearnBI10 күн бұрын
1. "Almost as easy" but not as powerful. My point is that time/date management and analysis is an in-built part of the tool, and not something that you need to calculate using formulas. It is simply better for BI use cases. 2. Because it's cloud-based, it can handle billions of rows in sources like BigQuery, Amazon Redshift and Microsoft Azure. And with regard to features, which ones specifically are missing from Looker Studio that you would need for the majority of BI projects? 3. That literally makes no sense to the point I make, which is that the calculation language in Looker Studio is based on SQL whereas DAX is a completely separate language. A Powerful language, yes, but only relevant to Power BI users.

Thanks for this - good vid! I don't hate pie charts, i just think they are overused. But if you want to see the relative distribution of a small number of elements that are a part of a whole, it's hard to beat a pie chart. That said, I always start by asking myself "what question is being answered" and if there's a better option!

I will add something out of my own experience. You absolutely want to be a data base owner as a Data Analyst. Of course, you don't want to mess up with the ERP system or the currently existing data warehouse. However, it is ALWAYS possible (don't believe them if they tell you otherwise) to get a small isolated database on one of the company's servers and get a database management tool installed (they are freeware so it is all about getting an IT permission). Use your database to store parts of business logic, which otherwise exist in Excel or are calculated on reporting level: alternative hierarchies, manual number patches, some alternative descriptions etc. Also if you are in need to perform a large calculation, which is slowing your reporting software down, do it in your database. That way your reporting software (I use PBI primarily) gets ready to serve data and the performance of your reports gets a big boost.
