I fell a while ago on my back and hurt my neck and my back. I can't stand up straight and I'm falling down walking to the right. I can't hold my head up either without a brace. Between my shoulder blades its feels like bones are sticking out and the same in my lumbar. The lumbar is excruciating pain. I can't carry anything or walk very far. Could that be a fracture? Or just herniated discs? I have no one to take me to the hospital and Incan only sit for a while and have to lay down.

I hear that lever belt squat machines are rough on the knees from the curve resistance it has. This is what's stopping me from buying this belt squat machine. I believe the Rhino belt squat is the best one that provided a 1 to 1 ratio and don't aggravate your knees, however it's 2500 dollars. As a physical Therapist what is your opinion on this issue?
@RepPhysicalTherapyAndFitness
@RepPhysicalTherapyAndFitness 4 ай бұрын
That's a solid question.. honestly I haven't come across research saying that the belt squat machine is bad for the knees. If you have any experimental research sources I would love to read them... some of the belt squat machines except for the rhino has some type of directional pull anteriorly which requires some adjustments of your form so compensation does not happen which is when you can get in trouble with your hips or knees.... for instance take your traditional back squat, if an individual has the slightess knee valgus and if the form and or muscle imbalance is not addressed....overtime that type of force MAY result in hip and or knee pain..... with the curve resistant aspect which every machine is a little different but essentially depending on the directional pull and force you may be activating different muscles for instance with the pull anteriorly you may get more quadriceps activation than glute activation..... but personally (anecdotal research) my knees have actually felt better with the squat machine than the traditional back squat. Thanks for watching!!

hammer strength makes a belt squat too. i use it at the gym. i fell in love (within the first time using it 3 months ago) after how easy and safe it is to reach 'failure' compared to a barbell squat. i can see myself ditching barbell squats for the rest of my life if i can get my hands on a belt squat. i love the decompression feeling of my spine and the ease of loading it without having to adjust safetys and the bar on a squat rack. its just all around more efficient for hypertrophy for me. i cant wait to get my hands on a belt squat machine one day and this may be my ticket to entry. cool review. thanks

Any thoughts on comparing it to Rep's belt squat rack attachment? It needs the lat/low row rack attachment to function, but I'm likely going to purchase those soon and am debating the next step for leg work after.

I think if you already have the rep cable attachment system then I think that would be a great addition... honestly if those attachments were all out when I was doing my home gym then I probably would have done everything through rep such as the cable column, the lat attachment, belt since its all confined to one space especially if your limited with space..... however I will say that I love this squat machine and I am super pleased with it... using a belt squat attachment or machine in general is amazing and I cant believe I have never tried one before... thanks for watching!

@RepPhysicalTherapyAndFitness
@RepPhysicalTherapyAndFitness 5 ай бұрын
That's a great question. This machine can be a great alternative to a traditional back squat since it does off load pressure of the spine and I would say should be safer but you should reach out to the surgeon to get better clarification if that's a movement you can perform without compromising your back or the risks involved because everyone is different with a low back surgery and the outcomes involved so the best person to ask would be the surgeon since they did the surgery and they should have all the medical information/history in order to give you the best answer. Hopefully that helps!

I can't remember exactly when I was told I had a compression fracture. I'm 61 years old now it's been a while. I think I got it from falling off my horse. I used to be 5'10 and now I'm 5'91/2 I was told by my Dr. as a matter of fact no advice was given to me at the time. Recently, I had another set of back X-rays and my new Dr. basically confirmed what I told him. He didn't tell me to do anything. I do exercise daily and walk. I'm semi-retired now and drive a school bus. Worse decision sitting on that bus is terrible for my back I try to stand up and do stretches whenever I can. Recently went on vacation for a week. The only time my back started to hurt was walking A LOT! I knew I had to take a break and rest my back. I thought the 51/2 plane ride would kill me but I was alright.

Thanks for your insight! Certain exercises such as gentle stretching and or strengthening exercises can help with the condition but you have to listen to your body and see what works best for you... your body will definitely let you know if a specific activity may aggravate your condition and you may have to adjust accordingly... the last thing you want to do is not do anything at all, but it sounds like you are managing your condition well. When doing a scenic course does the resistance automatically adjust for say a hill or slope?
@RepPhysicalTherapyAndFitness
@RepPhysicalTherapyAndFitness 6 ай бұрын
Good question! Yes, there is auto resistance with the scenic course however I think it depends on the course you pick and the instructor as they designate the resistance so it's not really per say the terrain but it is somewhat correlated. If the instructor is going up a slope than the resistance is going to be higher and if the instructor is on a flat road then it will be less. Hope that helps! Thanks for checking out the video :)

@PeopleRTheProblem 6 ай бұрын
How does autonresistance change make the work out more challenging? You’re removing a component
@RepPhysicalTherapyAndFitness
@RepPhysicalTherapyAndFitness 6 ай бұрын
Well first it depends on your own motivation level. If you overide the auto resistance and pick your own resistance at 30 but the instructor has it set at let's say 50 then you as the individual are making the class easier but if you let the auto resistance take over and match the instructor then it's going to be "more challenging" the entire class.
@PeopleRTheProblem
@PeopleRTheProblem 6 ай бұрын
@@RepPhysicalTherapyAndFitness you can do that with not auto resistance. On both bikes you can choose your own resistance. Why would I pay $1050 more to not really have anything change? You can turn off the auto resistance. Just like you can increase the resistance on the standard bike. It’s pretty much the same. Also, there are third party kits for like $50 to convert the swivel screen.
@RepPhysicalTherapyAndFitness
@RepPhysicalTherapyAndFitness 6 ай бұрын
@@PeopleRTheProblem Again it really depends on the individual, if you feel like you can challenge your own self and follow exactly the cadence and resistance by yourself than I would stay with the orginial bike. But there are many other features than just the "auto resistance" that make it a more expensive bike however I do agree that a 1,000 more is probably not worth it. For me personally I love that the screen rotates so my wife or I can do classes off the bike easier. At the end of the day it depends on your own finances. I think the bike that you can get at Costco for around 600-800 dollars is perfect for most people in my opinion. Thanks for watching the video!

The auto-resistance is the best feature. You won’t have to keep reaching down and turning the wheel when the instructor calls out resistance changes. Also, you can also buy shoes made by other Company’s such as Tommaso which are cheaper and just as good or better. The Peloton shoes tend to run tight. Those toe cages are hard to get in and out, shoes are the best way to go. You’ll need the Delta Clips.
