So how can you wire it so, that recepticals down stream, are not tripped when the gfci trips.

Great video 👍 but isn’t it better to have your garage surface painted all white from the outside because of its very high sun light reflectivity of 80 to 90% keeping it much cooler automatically compared to a darker or black coloured garage that absorbs a lot of heat from the sun radiating the heat everywhere.

Needed to insulate my attic. Ended up choosing. TAP (thermal acoustic pest) cellulose insulation. It's treated with boric acid as a fire retardant but it's also a pest control product and is harmless to humans. One of the best decisions I've ever made.

Your first 2 reasons are wrong. GFCI receptacle does not trip from overload or short between the hot and neutral. It's purpose is to detect a current leakage of at least 5mA from hot to neutral. That current will go to ground and trip the device, hence the name GFCI. With or without a ground wire connection, the user becomes a potential ground and there to protect them. Overload and a short between hot and neutral is the circuit breakers purpose.

YUP it's long overdue that everyone MUST install AFCI in non wet & GFIC in wet areas... this is NOT just about YOU- it's about the whole neighborhood... just look at the wildfires in Co & Ca recently... one house going up in flames threatens many lives other than the home owners... so long past due that everyone got on board with this safety upgrade to residential electrical systems!

GFCIs offer much needed extra protection for a modest increase in price. AFCIs offer very limited extra protection at a ridiculously exorbitant cost. Manufacturers have lobbied governments to require AFCIs almost everywhere to allow them to EXTORT customers in the name of 'safety'.

In 2020 we got a new to us home. We had the service upgraded to AFCI breakers. Within six months a tree in the yard was hit by lightning. That caused every breaker to trip. We had zero damage because of this. I would never go back to standard breakers again. It saved everything electrical in the home and we only had to get the tree removed.

The guy that invented GFI‘s was a friend of the NEC board they got together made it mandatory to install GFI.They made off with millions.More people have been injured because of GFI, especially when the elderly required oxygen generators. And in hospitals and at home if the GFI trips they go without oxygen heart etc.. That’s why hospitals do not plug into the GFI circuit only dedicated, which is an orange plug. In Europe, they do not have a ground wire system. Everything is double insulated, here in America almost everything that we use is double insulated making GFI‘s worthless useless and a unneeded cost, but the guy that invented it and the Nema guy they’re living in the Bahamas, high and mighty.

How do you inspect a circuit for an arc Falt?
@stephenrocks70049 күн бұрын
Arc fault breakers in bedrooms are just another scam like GFI. They don’t use them in Europe because it’s a two wire system., everything is double insulated in Europe and it’s getting that way here in America as well. The code for GFI really needs to be rewritten and the guy that invented it and the NEMA GUY, they made millions THEY ARE scammers by the way I’ve been an electrician for 52 years with a masters license.
