@@VirtualRobotsRevolt Yep. Or you could burn alcohol, but you would need a sealed burner tray first, or use a gel such as STERNO

My father spent lot of time traveling for business when I was a kid. He got me one of these when he was in England around 1980. I was 11 or 12 I would pull it out from time to time. No one was really impressed with it because it just spins a flywheel. I was because I knew what it took to get a steam engine to work. Recently I decided to sell it on eBay someone low balled me with an offer I started thinking about my father he passed when 90's when I was in my 20's. I took it down can't sell it right now I want to clean it up make it look new again. I still have the box lost the funnel and needs a new filler plug lost that also.

I bought this model (or similar version) with my birthday money in about 69/70. Used to run it in my small boxroom bedroom, the smell of meths was overpowering. The novelty didn't last long, it ended up being left outside on top of the coal bunker, eventually being sold for shillings.

I have a Mamod Se2a from about 1977: the same engine with the addition of reversing gear and the whistle. It is substantially the same as this one. What's interesting its my steam supply line runs directly from the top of the boiler down to the cylinder, but yours seems to wrap around the bottom of the boiler: kind of a primitive super heater. My steam supply line is soldered into the boiler. Mine lacks the absorbent washer for cylinder lubrication. Your fuel tray is for liquid fuel, mine is a plain tray for Esbit tablets (My wife says they stink-up the house!)

What a lovely find. I wonder how many are at the bottom of ponds around the World? I remember a Blue Peter episode in late 60s where a pond was being drained and John Noakes finding the remains of such a boat in the mud then restoring it back to health, running the boat on the same pond a few weeks later.

I have a Seahawk, badly painted in black a very long time ago. I also have an engine-less Luton Bowman Seajay, to which I intend to fit a Seahawk engine and propshaft arrangement (actually a modified M140 engine)
