This was not bad, but for a large city-wide orchestra youth orchestra, I would expect a little more clarity...a little muddled in places, but overall good. By contrast, here is a local, junior high orchestra (Koriyama J.H.S.) from Japan, less than half the size of BYSO, Both orchestras performed Anton Dvorak's Overture "Carnival" Op. 92. Koriyama J.H.S. was equally as technical, very well balanced, very polished, with a big sound. Koriyama J.H.S.: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m5-qjK582Z3Kpqc.html Anton Dvorak: "Carnival" Op. 92

This youth orchestra is very good, no doubt. They are the better instrumentalist in the area, impressive. I am, however, more impressed by a couple significally SMALLER LOCAL junior high orchestras from Japan, The Koriyama and Yosami orchestras, where the Koriyama orchestra plays classical pieces using NO SHEET MUSIC. Both are highly diciplined, articulate, well-balanced, and highly polished for the age group. Here are just a few examples, enjoy: KORIYAMA J.H.S.: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/psiClrZmntC3ZWw.html Dvorak, 9th Symph. 1st movement kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rcxjZ9FlvNWlk3U.html Rachmaninov, Symphony No.2 - Allegro molto kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h6mBnLRynMm7ZY0.html Rimsky-Korsakov, Scheherazade kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h6mBnLRynMm7ZY0.html Tchaikovsky Symphony No.1 - Finale kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y6-df85yreC7qac.html Holst The Planets Op.32 - Jupiter YOSAMI J.H.S. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m5-qjK582Z3Kpqc.html Dvořák Overture “Carnival” Op. 92 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qp5yas-XqdmbZWg.html Borodin - Prince Igor: Polovtsian Dances kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r7mmadZ60MzcYWQ.html Mussorgsky - Night on Bald Mountain kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i79_os2nsrK3dqc.html Tchaikovsky Fantasy Overture Romeo & Juliet kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qp5yas-XqdmbZWg.html Borodin - Prince Igor: Dance of the Dattan people

What a powerful-sounded brass section! Props to the second conductor! Seems like a decent guy.. One of those trumpeters sure plays quite big and bold. Great sound all around!
