Maybe instead of killing the plant you should harvest the resveratrol from the rhizome and sell it to factories like Clairol or Maybelline who then sell back to you at eighty dollars an ounce as anti aging serums..lmao.. People are so ignorant they don't even know a blessing when they see it....master says jump society jumps high as they can then bully the ones who didn't get on par...lol. Oh well more fore me.

Why would you want to kill knotweed? Good grief people...I get y'all call it an invasive species.....however so are we....much worse than a stupid plant. I use this plant for medicine crafting and a food source....people are such herd oriented shrews...monkey see monkey do government monopoly style. The government bans it so corporations can monopolize anti aging cream and anti inflammatory drugs ..lol. Gotta love dumb ass people.

Knotweed - Aminopyralid (know your label and residual effects). Hemlock- 2,4-D or 2,4-d and Tryclopyr. This is an awful video, but I want you to know how to kill these invasives.

How not to do it! Protective clothing overalls, gloves, eye protection and breathing filter a legal requirement in the UK
@asizer
@asizer 8 жыл бұрын
For the UK, do not do this. You must be licenced and qaulified for the control of knotweed with this type of treatment. The PPE used is NOT good enough,

You do not need to be licensed to apply herbicide on your own property in the UK.
@asizer
@asizer 8 жыл бұрын
If you are using a weaker herbicide which you buy from a DIY Shop then no, you don’t. But if you using a licensed herbicide then you do. Gov.uk “makes sure anyone spraying holds a certificate of competence for herbicide use or works under direct supervision of a certificate holder” . Whichever you are using the sunglasses are not adequate protection for your eyes. Full face shield should be used, the gloves should not be absorbent, and they should be Unlined Nitrile Gloves. Disposable overalls, safety boots (no laces) also should be used

Great, but what chemical did you use?
@johnwoody9505
@johnwoody9505 8 жыл бұрын
Probably a glyphosate based herbicide. If so, only apply glyphosate when the plants are flowering or when they have reached their terminal height.

Well, japanese knotweed is sold as resveratrol at vitacost www.vitacost.com/vitacost-trans-resveratrol-500-mg-of-herbal-extract-yielding-250-mg-trans-resveratrol-60-vegetarian-capsules-5 Just google medicinal benefits of japanese knotweed. There are hundreds of articles. I would dry it and use it as an herb like oregeno. Can't people use it as a natural fence? What if you build a simple chain link fence and plant it along the fence and have it grow up on it and then it would be a nice green fence. I have used bamboo and people complain that it takes over. Can't make everyone happy.This planet is being destroyed in so many ways. It's depressing.

sportydiver It's very invasive. If it was away from my house and out of my yard, I wouldn't care but it take over everything. I'm not going to use it like oregano or eat it. I've wondered about using it like bamboo but it's not sturdy when it's dry so it's useless to me. Therefor, it needs to gotten rid of.

sportydiver And no, you can't. So far the only use it does have for me is blocking the view to my driveway and the view of my neighbors. Oh, and invading my plants. I want to have a garden but I can't due to this plant. (A real garden- tomatoes, corn, beans, etc... Not Knotweed/drunkerd's path (as my grandpaw called it))

You spent more time on the dam editing, both video & audio, than actually helping with the eradication of the invasive species... what was that about purple spots & killing you in 30 minutes? Obviously a ploy to make us watch over & over til we figure out what the **** you're talking about.

Best option is to cover the area with a weed barrier cloth. Chemicals do not work, I have a 3 acre prop. in NE with wetland and state I live its illegal. Mark the area in spring, apply the barrier. Followed by a thin layer of soil, another barrier and more soil. Keep in mind that it could take several years for the roots to completely die and to make sure the area you are targeting does NOT have any established colonies of weeds nearby. I did a cleaning summer prior and burned weeds....

I wasn't aware of that, either. Interesting. All I know is these darned things are growing all along the fence in my backyard, and they grow back quick once you break them off in winter. They don't seem to be easy to get rid of.
@myazzizonfyr
@myazzizonfyr 4 жыл бұрын
Don't get rid of them, harvest them man...you can eat them when the shoots are young, raw ( not if you sprayed them ) or cooked ( again not sprayed ones) they are bitter like green apples. Or harvest the resveratrol from the rhizome as an anti inflammatory /anti aging remedy . Just some food for thought.

What herbicide do you use and most importantly, where did you get the herbicide injector? I want to try this method. Nothing else I have done works. It seems to love being cut, having salt put on it, cooking oil on it, all the herbicides I have tried so far, and digging it up is a nightmare. Nothing seems to work.

Shame, there's a nice patch of horsetail and cattails growing right there near the waters edge, both great foraging / edible plants. Knotweed is also edible in its early stages...check it out.

You on the right idea, but you wont be killing the knotweed, merely controlling it. I treat this stuff for a living and there is a bit more method involved for successful eradication.
