Not a fan of strong lofted irons for distance. Confidence in mid handicap golfers is decreased with these. Typically with strong lofted irons the launch angle is lower. Only the shaft gets the shot up in the air when using them.

That's a lot of delay after hitting a shot. I get virtually no delay on my computer after I hit shots. I am in network mode using wi-fi.

My biggest concern is always the thick soles and turf interaction. Historically I don't get along with a thick sole iron.

Old pro Eddie Merrins advocated “swing the handle.” He demonstrated swinging the butt end of the club left past the left hip. Does this fly in the face of what you advocate?

In the eighties I had a set of Tiger shark, great whites.these were all the same shaft lengths from a seven iron to a three iron. Great set of clubs, easier to strike consistently.

Ouch so the GT3 has way less MOI than the TSR3, same story on the 4 model. Both drivers are now as about as forgiving as the original SIM driver 😮

I wouldn't classify chunky distance irons as "forgiving" when they generally have worse distance control which equates to more strokes lost.

Offset in an iron doesn’t cause a draw. It sets the cg back to aid in launch.
@madefortherangegolf
@madefortherangegolf 28 күн бұрын
Offset in an iron does several things. Yes you are correct that the CG gets set back a little bit for launch help! But another one of them being to help keep the ball from going to the right for a right handed golfer. The offset allows the blade more Time to get back to square while going through impact. So for a player who already gets the blade back to square, the offset is going to cause the ball to usually start more left and have a bit of a draw as the head closes through impact.
@erock1070
@erock1070 28 күн бұрын
@@madefortherangegolf For a 80 mph club head speed, 3mm of offset would result in a delay that would only be about 80 microseconds. Which also means virtually zero change in face-to-path. And that's even assuming you agree with the theory that one controls the swing by the position of the shaft and not swing the weight we feel at the end of the shaft (the position of the head c.g. - in which case there is no delay). It's the fact that the c.g. is pushed further back that results in slightly more forward bend of the shaft at impact - which means a tiny bit more loft and a tiny bit more face closure. A small amount of bias but not even close enough to cause a hook. For most, larger changes in ball flight really comes from the visual of the club at address that can subconsciously influence the set-up or the swing in such a way as to change the swing and ball flight. This could either be adding confidence that it wont slice or make their worst fears of a hook come true.

Poor video about 3 great clubs The i230 is not really a mid HC iron, it is popular on the LPGA tour for example. The i530 is probably Ping's mid HC iron. Saying, as the video does, that the i230 is the highest launching iron is misleading. Of course it is higher launching the i230 7i has a loft of 33 degrees, Mizuno 245 a loft of 30 degrees and P790 30.5 degrees. Mid HC irons are aimed at the average golfer. There is little point in testing them with a 90+ mph 7i club head speed and telling us about spin rates and descent angles when the clubs are aimed at players with a club head speed of around 80 mph - it is the spin rates, peak height and descent angles achieved at the 80 mph club head speed that really matter to the average male golfer

Spot on. I'm a 14, 7i swing at 88mph and have the i230. If you miss hit it, you see a big drop off..you need to be a good striker for these. If your mediocre, look elsewhere. I've had the Ie1, i200 and now i239. The Ie1 was the most forgiving- ugly but great iron. the 230 the least forgiving by a lot!!

I bounce around a 6-8 cap and it still baffles me why anyone even games irons these small unless they are around that 0-5 handicap range.. I think people play irons way above their abilities and choose looks over skill. I guess I just choose easy over looks. Also these irons other than maybe the i230 do nothing for the lower swing speed guys like myself to help with launch and spin rates.
@atxrich
@atxrich Ай бұрын
I personally don’t think those irons are too small. Agreed a bigger head would be more forgiving but to each their own. I have a set of 245’s and have as much fun playing them as the JPX irons that replaced them.

I partially agree. The Ping should be i530, I think (Bryson and Grant play/ed the i230), but the Mizuno 245 and P790 are playable for mid handicappers.

she is casting after this BS keep your heel down stuff. golftec ruined by friend's swing too, know why? cuz people like him don't really understand the golf swing. but rather tries to put you into static positions and you can trick the camera to read different angles by making the wrong moves. this in turn will cause unnatural movements and injury in the long run. our bodies automatically compensate for moves we make. you have to teach the person how to "feel" the correct swing, and once you get this feel, the body naturally does what it should and you don't have to PUT someone into these static positions. that's why people who've gone through golftec have the weirdest looking swings, although my sample size is rather small.

This test wouldn’t do anything for a full swing. You’ll have shaft bend when actually swinging which will impact the lie angle.

You can account for shaft lean when adjusting the lie. Not sure what you talking about? The line should be straight up and down regardless of shaft bend.

I was fitted by a Certified ( I repeat ) a certified PGA golf fitter who has a golf boutique in Laval ( Quebec ) Canada. No comparaison with my current golf club …no examination of my chipping wedges ( degrees, bounce etc ) I was stuck with a 47* gap and my 50 * wedge ??? I was after ten balls fitted to a Callaway clubs, and a Ping driver a LST 9*…. After a week of working hard indoors at a golf club…..I was struggling and extremely mad.A member looks at the stats and brought me to Golftown Canada( Golftec) and after 5 swing of golf he show me the Foresight stats and said you have been screw for good….all the shafts where too stiff for me 67 y/o. Bottom line: a certified PGA forced me to keep in my closet a Driver which I’m not using ( play with my old Ping G400 Max), a 11 wood in the closet and spent roughly 600 CDA$ for new shafts on woods and clubs….So Golftown Canada ( Golftec) the fitter was not a certified by a BIG Corp bla bla bla….but an honest sales rep and a good golf player with training in fitting. Don’t get fooled by big names…..trust your instincts and double check reputation… these incompetent fooled the public, the clubs manufacturers the PGA….but I wonder if they only cares….
