This was super helpful and made the job 50% easier at least. I have changed numerous compressors over the years and this turned out to be the easiest. (2008 Volvo S60). I did consult for FCP Euro video which helped with some of the details of connectors.

Should the actuator move freely? Wonder if mines seized shut it’s not moving at all.
@Saltbox972 ай бұрын
There is a spring inside the actuator can that you would need to push against. If you have access to a vacuum pump you can remove vacuum line to engine and install the vacuum pump to see if diaphragm is good and mechanism moves.

Oh, I had to figure out what you were looking at. One (circular) goes to the air exchanger than runs all the time and the larger square one is exhaust fan that goes straight to outside (switched and on a timer).

Is the heater's pipe end(Thermostat housing side)goes all the way in or just sit on top with the gasket acting as stopper? It's so hard to put it in with the gasket on, if so, what's the trick? Thanks in advance.
@Saltbox972 ай бұрын
O-ring actually slips down inside the thermostat housing.
@kensacdalan47482 ай бұрын
You mean to say I don't put it on the pipe edge, just insert it on the housing hole pf the thermostat? It's hard to push it down.
@Saltbox972 ай бұрын
@@kensacdalan4748 O-ring first goes on the pipe, it sits in a groove in pipe. Then you push the pipe into the housing and the o-ring goes into the housing and does not just sit on top of housing. Just push the pipe in as far as it will go and when you put the bolts in the pipe brackets to engine you’ll know it’s in the correct spot. Main thing to remember is the o-ring is sealing between pipe and housing and not just siting on top of housing. You’ll likely need a little silicone spray or something to lubricate the o-ring, then wiggle/turn pipe back and forth as you push into housing. Try to test fit the pipe without o-ring just to see how far it goes in.

When obtaining a used a/c compressor from a salvage yard, the first thing that you should do is to make sure that is an OEM part. Also, I would recommend taking it to a specialist shop to be rebuilt. Remember; these cars have been "roasting" out in the elements for God knows how long!

The Sennville manuals are a JOKE. There are many things not covered.
@mrbmp094 ай бұрын
Why did you use the 5/8 flare adapter/spacer fitting on the "B" connection? (Same port as where you have the vacuum line connected at 2:40). My sennville units came with 3 of those fittings in a bag. Trying to figure out if they are needed or not. The flare nut that came on the line set fits the flare fitting on the unit. So why did they send those female flare to male flare fittings?
@Saltbox974 ай бұрын
Hi There, great question. I have installed a number of these units and they all come with the extra fittings. This particular 36,000 btu compressor serves a number of head sizes in terms of BTUs. Senville packages the compressors with the extra adapters and nut variations you might need depending on the size of your inside head unit. This way they can package all the compressors the same way and then add any head size customer wants. So, if your lines fit direct to the compressor manifold then you are good to go.
@mrbmp094 ай бұрын
Thanks for answering. But both flare nuts look exactly the same size. Do you know the difference?

It’s very sad to see owners still struggling underneath these fiat 500 to drain the oil. With the oil filter on the side of the engine….all that’s needed is an oil extractor. simple and easy…with absolutely no mess. No need to crawl on your back and do all this unnecessary work. Get an oil extractor!

Is it because that clip comes off that it can’t close properly? I’ve having the same coding problem with my Chevy Trax currently
@Saltbox975 ай бұрын
If the clip falls off and the arm falls free then the actuator can’t control the turbo waste gate lever. So the turbo can’t produce boost pressure. This results in a lack of power as well as triggering the low boost pressure code.

How long were the Blanco strainers installed, to accumulate that crud? I’m curious because I suspect we are having the same issue (or have had it several times, mitigated by cleaning as best we can each time) 6 years down the line… stainless Blanco sink, but same strainer.
@Saltbox975 ай бұрын
You don’t have to wait very long for food scrapes to get trapped. After that it’s whatever length of time needed to rot before emitting a smell. I too used to use the sprayer to try and dislodge food particles trapped in the strainer. It would help for a bit but you can’t get it 100 percent clean. I’ve installed lots of sinks and never ever saw this terrible design that does not meet canadian plumbing standards. It’s like someone designed them to trap food.
