Very interesting. Thank you! I regret not getting my maternal grandmother's Singer foot treadle sewing machine, in a beautifully crafted cabinet-table, as shown in the opening. (We had no place to put it.) I can picture it in her dining room, and "hear" the clattering sounds to this day.

Thanks so much for videotaping this event! I learned some new things and got some great resources. Now I know who is identifying most (if not all) of the spiders I post on iNaturalist!

You mentioned several times to make sure the cross straps lay flat, but when I do that we generate that abnoxious hum from the straps vibrating when travelling faster than 50 km/h. If one continues like that, damage to the car's finish results as well. What do you recommend to address that? Thanks.

Excellent video! Just bought my first canoe yesterday. Watched your video a few times before, and followed your instructions to the letter. I thought 12’ straps would do, but got the 15’ for the reason you stated. Glad I did. Way easier than throwing the straps over. Got the new/used boat home totally safe, thanks to your great instructions. Thanks!

It’s a must play! One of the top hidden gems in Minneapolis. It’s a tale of two 9’s. Long but openish off the tee on the front. Tight and narrow everywhere on the back and 18 is a BEAST. Think twice on the back nine before choosing your shot!

Hi, I was wondering if it was OK to post a clip of highland hills from your webcam. It would be about 15 minutes to show a rope tow.

Good clear description and demonstration. I have a concern about trusting the hood latch that much. I have never trusted that to hold something as valuable as my canoe on the roof. IMHO

Hopefully you respond. How would you recommend starting a sunflower? How would I do the head and the surrounding petals? Have any ideas, I want to do this for a birthday gift so a response would be helpful Thank you!!! (Also where did you get the wire?)

So I can't completely center my canoe in my car either. But I actually placed mine a little further on the passenger side so that I could have more vision on the driver side. Is that right or wrong?

Very nice. Learned a few excellent tips that I didn’t know about attaching the center straps, particularly the one about swinging the straps around the front or back rather than tossing them over the top.

Get the straps that have the padded buckle which reduces the chance of scratching your car or boat (especially if it's fiberglass or carbon fiber.) You can also get straps with locks and that have steel cord in the strap which makes it very difficult to cut.

The way the back line is tied is counter-productive. Instead of connected to the end of the canoe they should be tied to a thwart that is forward of the tie in point of the rear of the vehicle so that as the line is tightened the canoe is pulled tighter to the vehicle. Also all that is holding the front loops in place is the hood latch; not a very strong part of most vehicles. Loops CAN be used through the hood crack secured with bolts or through holes in vehicle body parts that are much stronger.

The straps should have run inside the towers instead of outside as well. That would have directed the force inward and solved his "Angry A" situation.

Home Depot sells 4-ratchet straps kit for $10. They are highly rated. I would run a safety strap through the rear passenger windows and lock it down. Driving down the expressway at speed puts a lot of aerodynamic force on the canoe and the roof rack. Make sure it's rated for carrying a canoe.
