I really liked your view that the extra power in this thing will get you up hills. I weigh about 240 and live in a very hilly area, and my 750 watt ebike really struggles on some of the steeper hills. I always have to pedal, and if I'm at <%50 on my battery I sometimes have to downshift to gear 2 or even 1 to keep it moving. Now it a hill climbing off road BEAST! Also removed fenders and rack, headlight. Swapped out pedals for clip in on one side, platform on the other. Changed grips to more grippy ones.. With lower smaller chain ring up front better off road ground clearance, with new pedals less change of pedal strike when leaning bike and negotiating corners.. Love my FREEDOM!!! Cranks arms are the same, but i swapped out the pedals for theses clip in SPD on one side, ride with cleats so can pull up on pedal stroke as well as push down, better workout and can power pedals through full rotation of pedal stroke. Brand was "FUNN" on Amazon for $100 can also ride or use the platform side with regular shoes... Get the smaller size, won't get p3edal strikes on corners. Also, better ground clarence if you ride off road like I do in northern California. But with this gearing can climb steep hills like crazy like I do in the East San Francisco Bay Are4a, but you hardly lose any top end, I don't need to go 40MPH, so I prefer better torque and power at higher RPMS >> Easier to pedal too when at Pedal Assist Zero when you want to get a good workout.@@BabyBoomer1959

Most fat tire ebikes have chain rings that are too small. Meaning you're geared to low. In the highest gear you're spinning your legs off at 25mph. Then the freedom comes out with a massive 56t chain ring which is to big for some people who take lots of hills. It's geared to high even when in the lowest gear. I'm thinking a 48 or 50t chain ring would be a nice compromise on the Freedom. More clearance between the ground and the smaller chain ring is a plus as well.
