It is likely a myth that the giant short-faced bear is bigger than a polar bear. It might be taller due to having longer limbs, but the overall weight is not a huge difference. A polar bear is bulkier than a short-faced bear.
@dexter.mp423 сағат бұрын
I think that that is a good argument honestly. Still, that thing being taller than a polar bear and hitting the uncanny valley real hard makes it conceptually even scarier to me than a polar bear which is already insanely scary.

This happened to me yesterday! I saw this video on Facebook a week or so ago and found it fascinating. Then yesterday I finally decided to dispose of a plate of chicken parm I had in the fridge covered with foil. I took it out and couldn't believe I was seeing a few holes burned through where it was touching the spaghetti noodles. 😅

I basically agree with everything you said, but i do believe iq scores (not the singular avraged out iq) can be useful to help people why they might be struggling with a certain thing, and potentially gain insights into what thier strengths are so they can form strategies to overcome things they struggle with.
@jeffbenton61837 күн бұрын
Coincidentally enough I was having a similar conversation with a friend of mine the other day (he doesn't believe that IQ is deterministic or unchanging, don't worry; though I was proposing an idea more like this than he was - a nuanced discussion). Some day in the not so distant future, I'll likely rewatch this multiple times over, write down the names of all historical figures mentioned and jump right into the rabbit hole of researching all of them for hours.

Hey Dexter.mp4, I just watched your video and I must say it's really helpful and well made. I was wondering if I could help you design your thumbnails for better CTR? Wanna try out a free one?
@dexter.mp46 күн бұрын
Honestly I do need to work on learning how to do good thumbnails for when I do longer horizontal shit. But for now I kinda just let it slide cause I wouldn’t want to make people think they are going to see a horizontal video when they are gunna see a vertical one.

"Planck’s Route to the Black Body Radiation Formula and Quantization" by Michael Fowler details Planck's thermodynamic analysis of the entropy of Blackbody Radiation, which motivated his frequency-dependent hypothesis to satisfy Wien's Law at high frequencies. Planck's application of Boltzmann's Statistical Mechanics led to his conclusion that the material of the walls emit and absorb radiation in discrete quanta. It's a great read.

The problem with foxes is that they are destructive and noisy and pee everywhere unfortunately some people don't do their research before getting a fox and sadly that fox may end up abandoned or rehomed.

IIRC, Copenhagen interpretation has the observer as "external" to the system they are observing? Which would be an inaccurate interpretation, because the observer as well as the observed system are both "internal" to one universe, which itself is described by one overall wave function, so the observer is not external but is entangled with their own observation, as in the Everettian interpretation. Or, to paraphrase Sean Carroll, Copenhagen interpretation may be popular but it is not a full theory of quantum mechanics.
