Mexico, like much of Latin America unfortunately, still has a very racist caste-oriented society where blacks and black African ancestry are looked down upon as being the bottom rung of society. These countries will deny the existence of their respective black populations if they can, as Mexico has done for most of its post-independent history. Even Mexicans, or other Latin Americans, with visibly-black African features will often deny having such ancestry, as though it were a personal insult. It's only thanks to the likes of Henry Louis Gates that Mexico has recently started to recognize its Afro-Mexican population.

Stuck at the end is the most intriguing part: they are 2% of Mexican people, but only .03 of Mexican-Americans. Why, because they live in the south Pacific coast, far from the US, but lots of people come here from there, so maybe they also don't like how they get treated here.

This guy again, who always assume that people don't know their own culture. Even when explaining the afro population in Mexico, he skips past the fact that a black native American tribe, Seminoles, (crazy as that may sound to some people, was a fact) fought United States government and may their way all the way to Mexico. And considering that the Spanish took Africans to all their colonies, well, most people on the face of this Earth that has 1 oz of brain would expect for there to be black people at least some in Mexico, especially considering the fact that the 3 countries who tried to erase their black history, Dominican Republic by their leader Rafael Trujillo, who was strangely, partially black himself, one of those Hitler moments ( he was partially Jewish), , also Argentina and Chile. And this guy doesn't have a clue about the realities of being Indian or black in a Hispanic society

Guyana is the newest member of the elect Oil producing fraternity. The relations between Guyana and India have always been close and friendly and there is cooperation between these countries in every field. Venezuela, a country with a military hundreds of times larger than Guyana has been threatening to invade and seize two -thirds of Guyana's territory including its oil reserves. Britain, USA, Canada , France, the European Union, the OAS and the Commonwealth have all supported Guyana against this threat of Venezuelan aggression. If India, as part of the Commonwealth, could pledge its military support of arms and men in the event of Venezuelan aggression , it will act as a deterrent to the Venezuelan aggressors.

The reality is that the Americas, including Latin America, have always welcomed many people from other continents. If they have children in these lands, we accept them as our own; we would never consider them "foreigners" just because of their skin color. However, it's a sad reality that in East Asia, they don't often welcome Latin Americans. In that part of the world, your skin color matters a lot; if you don't look "Asian," they may not accept you as one of their own, regardless of whether you and your family have lived there for two or more generations. I wonder how Arabs treat Latin Americans. In Latin America, we respect people of other religions. Do Arabs respect Christians? Is it true that in Saudi Arabia, it's against the law to build Christian churches?

I think Mexicans are perplexed when they're told Mexico has a black population because Latin America's definition of black is very different than North America's definition of black. In Latin America, black means you look African. In North America black means anyone who looks like they have some, even a little black ancestry.

Yes, Mexico is notoriously racist towards its black population, to the point where it denied their existence until fairly recently. Even people with Mexican ancestry will often casually spout out the most bigoted stereotypes towards black people, and will often become furiously defensive if you suggest they might have African ancestry, as though it were an insult. For all the relentless accusations of "systemic racism" towards American society, Mexican society is every bit as guilty of this.

Yes, but Colombia and Panama at #1 & 3 have much smaller total populations. Most Americans don’t know about African descended Mexicans because they make up only 2% of Mexico’s population. This is like pointing out how “Japans is so diverse” when it’s 2% non-Japanese :P
@ellismarquez8410

That makes no sense here. Unlike Japan, Mexico is neither a racially nor ethnically monolithic country. Most Americans don't know about African descended Mexicans because they're constantly being told the lie that all Mexicans are racially and ethnically homogeneous brown-skins descended from Aztecs and Mayans, even when an obviously white or obviously black Mexican is in the immediate vicinity.

They're descendants of West African slaves brought in through Caribbean Sea ports (like those in Veracruz, which he mentioned in the video) and were put wherever the colonizers/plantation society had a demand for them, which I'm assuming is the Costa Chica region of the nearby Oaxaca & Guerrero states, on the Pacific coast. Colombia has a high concentration of Black people along parts of the Caribbean (e.g. Cartagena) & Pacific (e.g. El Chocó) coasts for similar reasons.
