The beni hoshi trees seem very big. According to the nursery of my trust it will be around or below 2 feet in 10 years as maybe the smallest cultivar of all. I have one in the ground and it barely grew in the last two years so it seems the nursery did say the truth. Any thoughts? And do you know a yellow cultivar around that size?

The pinus densiflora.... dragons eye ain't even gonna try the botanical name. Anyway the candles on mine have the strangest blue green color to them which I love. I also love the irregular cloud pruned natural shape they take on.

Thank you for the video. I rescued 65 Japanese Maples that were in ground and were going to ne bush hog and successfully potted and then replanted around my house. I have always used pine needles in the fall each year and they have been doing good. But now some are seemingly to struggle it's July and hwat stressed so slow watering to start. Is there a fertilizer I can use now to help but not hurt going into winter. Thank you for your help.

I have a Shirazz that I planted 4 years ago. It's now about 8 feet tall and it is the most stunning tree on our property. Beautiful pink coloring in the spring, then slowly changes to green and white variegation through the summer, then bright pink color in the fall. It's summer time here in zone 8b, and the Shirazz gets hit with several hours of afternoon sun, yet doesn't seem to mind at all. It's sporting lots of cream color this year and it just glows. Outstanding cultivar.

In case my experience proves helpful to anyone... I bought one of these while visiting Metro Maples several years ago, and flew back home to NC with it. First few years in a container (which I have a lot of experience and success with) it was ok but then became unhappy no matter what I tried. Almost lost it last year then put it in the ground and now it is thriving like crazy! I'm in zone 7b and it is in full sun. Actually looks way better IMHO than the one in this video. Absolutely brilliant glowing chartreuse all year long, with red new growth flushes most of the year! I'm such an old school palmatum/japonicum/shirasawanum aficionado that I wish this upstart truncatum didn't show them all up, but it does.
