I agree about having the clarity down low instead of up high, I hate looking down and my gun/hand/watch/body/whatever is blurry af, it’s the closest thing to me, it should be the clearest!

Very interesting video ! When I got my og vive in 2018, I was impressed by the precision of the tracking, I didn't though you could do precision shooting in VR. The way they simplified the system is very clever. Logically the 2.0 basestations must have been quieter and more reliable since they only have 1 motor and no IR blaster but they are in fact noisier and seems less reliable from the bad experiences I read, I am very curious to know why. I switched from 2x 1.0 basestations to 3x 2.0 to fix a dead spot but I think I will go back to the 1.0 basestations because of the annoying noise of the 2.0 basestations, especially with the (excellent) off-ear speakers of the index. It's a shame I have to go back to an older tracking system to get a better VR experience. Out of curiosity and for personal challenge, I am trying to make a photodiode amplifier to see the IR signal on an oscilloscope. I am able to see the pulses and modulation (1.8MHz) of the 1.0 basestations but the 2.0 is on an other level, I need a faster op-amp.

10-bit color depth being equally important as angular resolution has got to be a joke. Then again, people being people, I can see it becoming the next over-hyped nonsense everybody's running after - like FOV a couple of years ago.

It's so sad to see that they still show Half-Life: Alyx in VR-headset demos :( Shows there's really been NOTHING going on on the VR-games front.

Resolution keeps improving but are they keeping up with the improvements to motion? what persistence (mprt) do those displays achieve? It needs to be a minimum of 0.3ms and what's the average brightness doing that?. imo they should just develop dedicated re-projection silicon and update the display at 4000hz low persistence with no brightness loss and way less stroboscopic artifacts.

Hi Brad, I think you ought to do your Vision Pro review. Your main concern is that you are such a weird use case that you are afraid your enthusiasm for this device may trick many normal users into buying a device that will not fit them. However, I think you are overstating how "weird" you are. Yes, getting a headless MacBook for the Vision Pro is indeed extremely rare and no one else should do it. But rocking with spatial windows (overlays as you may often them) with the Vision Pro is not weird, and not as rare as you think. I use my Vision Pro everyday for the exact same reason. Judging from social medias, I think this is one of the two major Vision Pro usage patterns that have emerged among Vision Pro users that stick. The other is for media consumption. Another reason that I think you should make your review is that we ought to show the world the values of spatial computing in practice. Many folks, including a large number of VR players, are knee-jerk antagonized against the Vision Pro due to it being too expensive, being from Apple, and perhaps just requiring a HMD. They also then tend to carry this attitude toward XR in general, dismissing such HMDs being "an iPad on your face", "just for watching movies", "just a 2nd monitor", and etc. I am not sure what another in-depth review may accomplish, but I hate to see such wide-spread and ignorant perceptions hurting the prospects of spatial computing. Vision Pro already does not any killer app, the platform itself is the killer feature already. Your review should just faithfully show how you use the device and your experiences. Vision Pro, and actually the XR industry, does not currently have a overhyped problem. On the contrary, they currently have to fight against negative perceptions.

Having a Quest 3, I felt like the next step was the Beyond, honestly was really considering getting it toward the middle of July but, after watching more and more reviews, even ones newer then this one, I'm leaning more towards waiting for something that learns from the Beyond, something with larger lenses, with better edge to edge clarity, and maybe eye tracking, eye tracking I think will be the next step in what attracts VR enthusiasts. I hope Bigscreen really has these two things at the top of their list for later versions, because someone will, given almost every reviewer mentions, customer support from Bigscreen is better then any other, and I really don't want meta to win, just get too much RP1 bad guy vibes, also passthrough is cool, but I'd take eye tracking over passthrough any day.
