What happens to any moisture trapped in tile bed if on a slab with failed membrane. Is your product water vapour permeable allowing substrate to breathe. Or is it impermeable and at risk of blistering on grout lines .

@@ClearWaterproofingMembrane Yes OK! But if I start attacking the blocks with a bolster I'll deface wall. The efflorescence has been there for ages, and I am suspecting the stone blocks are lousy with salt. The water comes through from the back of them, because there is a garden above and behind. I would say the seepage of the salt goes from back to front. Oh, well, I will just have to live with it.

I did this at my balcony in july 2019. It started to leak through again in july 2020. So it lasted only for about one year.

@@ClearWaterproofingMembrane I live in temecula California. It gets very hot. I noticed that the clear finish started to turn grey. Then it sarted to flake off. The wind would blow the flakes into little pikes. My balkony is natural slate. Like featured in one of your demonstrations. It must just getting to hot here .

@@ClearWaterproofingMembrane I hired a general contractor he applied it step by step following your instructions. Why it is turning from clear to a matte silver finish, we do not know. And then it starts to flake off. In areas where it is not in direct sunlight, it is still clear and did not flake off. I did the pool house floors too. And a balcony on the north side.

I was able to match the colour using a tile repair kit. Your results are good too. Matching colour can be difficult

OMG this woman said use pure hydrochloric acid! Concentrated (or pure) hydrochloric acid is extremely dangerous and very corrosive! It can never be used without proper PPE. No home owner should ever use anything this dangerous! Also the average person cannot buy pure HCl (hydrochloric acid) as this is for lab and industrial use only. I am pretty sure that she meant muriatic acid, which is watered down hydrochloric acid which is a lot safer to use. That said, full precautions still have to be used to protect the skin and eyes. Also test a small area first to see if there are any undesirable results. I worked in labs for years and feel that this video should be edited to reflect the very dangerous advice of using pure hydrochloric acid.

Hi Jack Thanks for you comment you are correct, pure hydrochloric acid is very dangerous but used correctly is the perfect tool for the removal of Efflorescence. Im sorry that the video did not correctly demonstrate this i will put a request in to update it. The acid used here was purchased at Bunnings the local hardware in Australia nothing to specific.

Hi CL the box was first caulked on the junctions using the Soudal Joint Adhesive then sealed using diluted membrane as it is a porous material. Then two coats of the membrane were applied.

Do you need to put grout into the joint before using the Caulk? I have a concrete balcony. There was grout before but no caulking. The grout is broken/missing and there are gaps up to 5mm.

Extremly expensive product ! 250 sqft balcony need materials for $1200 !!! Much better will be to put new tiles above existing and will be cheaper !

To be fair not wrong, many factors involved but from what I've seen most common issues are waterproof membrane failure or lack thereof, cheap material and poor workmanship and of course movement which will always occur.
