If you wear a mask, you can help prevent someone from being put on a ventilator. That person could be a stanger or even a friend or family member. I used to work at a hospital and seeing an ICU filled with Covid patients on ventilators is not a happy sight. It may never get that bad again, but still, let's all have some compassion. It's a small inconvenience that could save a life later.

I feel bad for this family, it almost happened to me, but I get that you don't really want someone having an episode before/in the middle of a flight... Back in 2021 I got on a flight for the first time in like 20 years, and my Anxiety was pretty high. I was keeping it in check as best I could but I was still breathing really heavily. The flight attendant asked me what was wrong and I calmly told them that I have anxiety, they told me "Keep it together please, or we're going to have to remove you from the flight". I got my breathing closer to normal and that was good for them, but if I didn't get my anxiety in check I'd have been kicked off...

THANK YOU for sharing some of your story. It is definitely a challenge for travelers on the spectrum or who have other mental health challenges (and I can relate!). Parents with children on the spectrum have to take this seriously and realize that there are things that can/need to be done in order to prevent their child from having a full-on meltdown. That's why it's so important to have a "plan" in place to help with the anxiety and stress. Some of these things include giving yourself LOTS of time to go through the check in process, eating enough to fill your belly (or if you can afford it--having a nice sit down meal at the airport), even having medication available (if that's an option that you and your doctor have devised). Delta (and maybe other airlines too) have what are called sensory rooms at the boarding area where passengers with "cognitive challenges" can go to "de-stimulate" They are rooms designed be visually and aesthetically soothing. If airports don't have these rooms, there are chapels or places of worship that are often quite and soothing too. I do think having a very full belly--especially with a ton of carbs (so you can feel sleepy on the plane) has helped me. Hope this helps in some small way! You're definitely not alone. 😊✈️

I get cold when I put ice in my cooler fan even in the 36ºc horribly sticky humid treacle air British summer heatwaves. My fan sits on circulate, programmed with automations for certain times of day and night... If you can't bring yourself to deal with the way things are done in a foreign country, please don't come here and put excessive pressure on our national electricity systems. That causes power cuts so everyone is equally as miserable without anything to keep cool, full stop. I absolutely agree that Paris really messed this one up though! Professional athletes need to be kept in top condition and their bodies are attuned to a certain temperature and humidity level so yeah, AC should have been optional. What I mean by that is when they were planning the village, asking the Olympic Committees of each country if they want ac or not, with the proviso that there is some other social or climate change offset (for example agreeing to turn them off or down when they leave the room unattended and at night or more energy efficient lighting that isn't as bright as other rooms/come without a dimmer option) would have made more sense.
@thewholetraveler
@thewholetraveler 15 күн бұрын
@Mrs.Fezziwig those are good points, most hotels use generators to compliment their AC use (i think in many EU states it's mandatory) so there isn't an additional burden on the power grid.
