Doesn’t matter, if you cut it. I just remove the inside, scoop it out, in with big pieces of peel, cover with water, simmer for 2 hours. It’s enough. By the way: lifting the lid has no impact, because it’s not the steam that does it. It’s the liquid.
@HealthOrigins
@HealthOrigins 10 күн бұрын
Just to clarify - it does matter whether you lift the lid. It's the volatile oils from the Grapefruit and lemon skins that you want, and they will escape as steam if you lift the lid. If you keep the lid on until it cools down, the steam and the oils condense on the lid and drop down into the pot.

I sincerely appreciate what you’ve done here. I have seen dozens, if not more KZfaqrs trying to package aubergine (eggplant in my neck of the woods) as a salvageable, even delicious vegetable, but inevitably they leave me with all the drawbacks you mentioned plus others, usually related to using too large a fruit. With your solution, my creative instincts lead me to all sorts of ideas for these dried morsels. (Your letting them clink on the pan proved very effective). Thank you again!

I solve that problem by not thinking about food. If you think about food it'll make you uncontrollably hungry. There's no need to think about it you'll get hungry and naturally eat. Instead of concentrating upon hunger I turn my energy towards preparing foods and meals, which turns my attention away from hunger.

If you mash the berries with a potato masher, you don't need any water. Bottle it quickly with a ladle or directly from the saucepan, and put the lid on. Then it will stay pasteurized. A pot with a flat thin lip is good four pouring. A liquids funnel immersed deep into the jar reduces splashing. The jam is hot and liquid so it will go through. You can wipe the jar lid with alcohol. But think about it: it's in open air, getting handled and breathed upon. Having jam on the lid is not nice when you need to open it. You can clip a meat thermometer to the pot with a wooden clothes pin (for drying clothes). Then it will not measure the bottom metal. To wash the pot, cook a porridge in it (pink manna porridge). I made several jars this year. The color is intense and good to keep other mixed berried red.

Hi Ingrid, these ingredients that I can't have soya bean or mushrooms or onions or tomatoes aubergine no eggs, can you suggest any recipes I could adapt thanks Michele Doyle.
@HealthOrigins
@HealthOrigins 25 күн бұрын
Hello Michele, it's difficult when you have some allergies or intolerances, but there are always ways around it, different replacements you can try. Soy beans can be easily replaced with any other type of beans or lentils in equal amounts, it's a bit more difficult to replace tomatoes and onions, but you can use garlic, roasted or fried red pepper and carrots for these burgers. Eggs can be replaced with some milled flax or chia seeds (1 Tbsp flax/chia seeds + 4 Tbsp of water = 1 egg) or if you need it to be more liquid, you can use 4 Tbsp of aquafaba (chickpea water) as one egg. A couple of tablespoons of starch can be used instead of an egg too and oats would work as a binder in this recipe as well.

@HealthOrigins

I think these stock cubes will have enough flavour even without the celery or celeriac, you could add a fennel bulb instead, that would give it a nice, slightly aniseedy flavour. You could add some butternut squash or pumpkin too.

I used to think of my overeating as emotional eating and never questioned that that was the reason -- until recently when it became very clear to me that for me it has definitely been for lack of a better term a "lust of the flesh." In my Bible reading it also became clear to me that fasting is a very useful way to deny the flesh and overcome such an addiction. This has been a GREAT thing for me, as I have been VERY obese for a VERY long time now. I am now 70, but working in my favor is that I lost 40-50 lbs. (3-4 stones?) in the past 7 years just from avoiding processed foods very much and making my own meals as healthy as possible. But I still have well over 100 lbs. (7-9 stones) I need to lose. I just started a few weeks ago fasting on water (and black coffee) 3 days a week and this is going VERY well for me. I wish you the best in your journey!
@HealthOrigins
@HealthOrigins 27 күн бұрын
You're doing well by choosing to eat no processed foods 👏 If you have been eating unhealthy for decades, it will take time for your body to adjust to the new norm and start trusting you again 🙂 I would be careful with doing so much water fasting - definitely consult a cleansing/fasting professional on this, as you might be doing your body more harm than good - as your body thinks you're starving often, it might slow down your metabolism to try and 'survive'. Intermittent Fasting is a better way to approach this in my opinion and if you do want to do water fasting, then one day a week might be a better option. If you're not seeing weight loss results as fast as you're hoping, even eating whole clean plant foods, you might want to keep a food diary and monitor exactly what and when you're eating, also I would look into detoxing body from heavy metals and other toxins, as it might be holding onto unnecessary weight to protect you. Just a few ideas for you 🙂

@@HealthOrigins That fact that I don't take any medications or drugs and have been very concentrated on healthful food for quite a while makes my journey much smoother. It is very individual for different people, I'm sure. What I DO find to be very unhealthful is the trend I have recently learned that is going around with younger people now of what they call "rolling fasts" of 90 hours. They will have only water for 90 hours and then eat whatever they want (without any real restriction) for 4 1/2 hours, and then go back to fasting 90 hours again and so on for sometimes many months at a time. I do not see that as a safe or healthy way to lose weight. After 3 days of fasting, autophagy drops off. Autophagy is when the body is ridding itself of dead and damaged cells. The scientist who learned about autophagy got something like a Nobel Prize for it in 2016. As for me, as I do this 3-day weekly fast I am gently restricting myself as to how much and how often I eat on the four days a week that I eat, and I know in time I will have a pretty good handle of current experience with eating in true moderation, so it is a win-win for me that is also coming very late in life. I don't know if I told you that I am 70 years old and am also a caregiver for someone near my age with very serious physical limitations and daily pain and crises. This makes my own health and strength that much more important. God bless!

I am sorry to inform you that I have not yet been able to make vegan cheese from oats. There were similar recipes and in the end I threw everything in the trash. I really liked your presentation and the exact quantities. I was sure that this time it would go well. So I made a double amount and mixed until it was really firm and thick and let it cool. Nothing happened. On the outside it was relatively stiff but on the inside it came out just like spreadable cheese. I was disappointed again 😰. Maybe because I put in a higher pattern (it seems to me twice the height you put yours). I don't know what to do and it's a shame to throw it away again after working hard in this summer heat in the kitchen. I was thinking of maybe putting it in a baking oven in a metal pan to dry it out a bit. Maybe you have an idea? Anyway, I thank you very much! You are kind and I see that you also answer the viewers' questions, which is an important thing.
@HealthOrigins
@HealthOrigins Ай бұрын
Definitely don't throw it out! Either use it a spreadable cheese or baking it is a good idea. You can make mini cheese tarts - just pour the cheese mix into pastry cases or silicone moulds and bake for 30-40 minutes, let it firm up after you take it out of the oven. Did you follow the recipe exactly and did you cook the mix for long enough?

Psyllium husk does not come from a tree bark. It comes from an edible weed called plantain. There are two varieties of plantain, wide leaf plantain and narrow leaf plantain. When plantain sends out seeds, the husks around each of the seeds are harvested and sold as psyllium husk.
