Great vid and appreciate the idea. I will continue to hand paint terrain because like you said at the end it’s fun and therapeutic 👍

It's nice but it seems to take the "fun" out of it don't you think? (I get the time restraints people have etc etc)😊
@fightinwritin23 күн бұрын
@craigskelton189 I talked about that in the main video, I agree. For my main stuff, I'll stick to the hand-painted/crafted bits. However, this could definitely be useful when I need lots of bits quickly that I know the kids I work with are likely to bash about and drop, and that can be just as easily replaced! It might take longer to print them than for me to manually do them, but the printing time is time I can then spend doing other stuff instead, so it's a win in that circumstance.

For me, I was prepared to love it until I weighed the wastage. Even though I'd seen it before the video, I hadn't weighed it until that moment and that was a real eye-opener. I'm not sure if the algorithm needs improving to how it prints, or if that's just the consequence. I might be able to turn down the purge settings as well to cut back, I need to learn more about the printer, I think.

Easy way to do a water pour and get no bubbles... Pour slowly and low to the surface, but once you are done us a back massager (vibrator) and lay it on the board on low setting, so it is slightly vibrating the entire board, the bubbles will rise up with the vibrations and out of the resin. It happens pretty quickly.
@fightinwritin26 күн бұрын
Ooh that's a good idea. It's funny but I've seen lots of videos going high for the pour, but low does make more sense.

i love scratch buinding terrain, every peice is unquie and hold a true bit of your artistist soul. however there is nothing wrong with 3D printing terrain. it can be faster, you do not have to dedicate lots of on hands time to print. also when you are making terrain for more than one or two tables, it helps. I will still scratch build terrain. but it is nice to have other options at hand. shared with friends and will be heading over to get some stls. thank you.

@fightinwritin7 ай бұрын
Yeah this would have taken weeks with resin. I think it would mainly fit on my Saturn 2 plate, but not worth the cost. I'll try some with some PLA after Christmas to cut down on the stringing. The PLA stuff I've done in the past has generally broken quite quickly when the kids use it in the workshops, so I'm hoping PETG will hold up better!

I honestly don't know the brand, I grabbed it from eBay listed as XPS. It definitely takes a lot longer. I think it depends on the end effect and how it will be used whether it's worth it. With a project I'm filming at the moment, I've done brickwork with a knife and pencil because it'd take months extra otherwise for very little effect!
