I haven't lived in Basildon since 1988 but spent about 10 years swimming in 'the pool' six times a week. I went back to the town via Streetview only a couple of weeks ago and the pool is still there so I only realised today that it was gone. Wish I'd had a chance to take sone photos before it was gone. It goes on the list of things from my youth that cannot be revisited - which includes Chowdry School. Thanks for the video and great song. Nice to know someone else cares!

I loved the pool but it was falling apart and the changing rooms stank of piss. It was an iconic building shame the couldn't have reused the exterior for something else. I use the new sporting village which is a brilliant facility and superb swimming pool (50m). Love the song!
