Riveted or welded boat? Do you know the weight of the dry hull? I’m looking at a Lowe 1648 welded and planning on building a 22 HP. Live in East Tx by Toledo and Rayburn. Lots of river duck hunting but curious on ability and weight on big water.

Caleb Wade riveted. It seems pretty light but not sure the weight. Welded will be heavier obviously. 22hp would be good.

Why use a GX270? Why wouldnt you use the GX390, 420 or 440 or 460 clones?

Was looking at the 20hp Honda....and came across the engine I have the gx390...its only 11.7hp...and everyone thinks its a 13hp

Yes and No. It all depends on the application as to what the hp is. Honda used to advertise it as a 13hp but I think they got sued or something. I never pay attention to the advertised hp rating. I look at how many cc’s the engine is.

Minion Man true, all longtails run better on a narrow boat. I’m not going far so it does the job for me

You can get various lengths of shafts- the wider the boat, the longer the shaft you want. They go from 65in - 100in long. The 85in shaft is the most popular.

what kind of average speed do you typically get out of this kit with a honda 390 ? ive got a 14 ft flat bottom thats 48" wide at the bottom . what kind of speed do you think i would get out of this set up? what is the biggest size prop that you offer that can be used on this kit as well?

+ssshawn2008 No because the aluminum prop is the shear pin of the system. They are $10 to $20 a piece and take less than a minute to replace(you don't even get out of the boat)
