Exhaust. That was the only way that I could describe what I was feeling. Everything was in pain, from the tips of my toes to the hairs on top of my head. We’d been fighting for so long, and now the worst of it was yet to come. I looked over at my lover, Rowan, who looked about as exhausted as I was. His brown hair was flying into his dirt spread face, and he had a look of defeat in his eyes. “It’s just us, you know,” he said, breaking the silence. The only other thing that could be heard was the shake from the steps of our biggest fear off in the distance, maybe a mile or two away. It was getting closer with every step, and it would only be a few minutes before we’d have to face it. “Yeah, I know,” I said, shaking my head at the ground. “We‘ll have to face it, too.” “And how do you suppose we are gonna do that?” He asked, his voice rising. “There were hundreds of us soldiers. Hundreds! And now it’s just the two of us. How are two of us supposed to face the biggest one yet?” I looked at the giant robot as it slowly closed in on us. “The only thing in between that robot and the wall that saves humanity is us. So we can’t just cower in fear and let it get in and kill millions of people. We’re the last hope.” I swiped some of the hair out from my face and sighed. “So I suppose we will have to face it together.” “And what if we lose?” Rowan asked, fear overtaking his voice. “I guess we will have to do that together too,” I said. The robot was much closer now. Its steps shook the ground, powerful enough to almost knock me off of my feet. Luckily, Rowan and I were using each other for support. Rowan turned towards me with tears in his eyes. “I love you, Alaska. Everything about you. From your beautiful blond hair, to the hairs on your legs, I love you.” Tears were starting to form in my eyes now. Lightly dropping down my cheeks. He kissed me on my lips. Then, we both turned to the giant robot. It was now among us, its gloomy red eyes sending chills down my spine. But no matter my fear, I had to push it aside. For all of humanity. “Into the unknown?” I asked Rowan as I was about to jump off the building and take flight. Now that the robot was closer I could see that it was hundreds of times taller than me. The biggest one I’d ever seen by a mile, definitely big enough to break the wall. It was our turn to make our final stand. I felt tears pouring down my cheeks now, and looked at Rowan who also was crying. “Into the unknown,” he said, then we jumped down to fight the biggest battle of death we’d ever be thrown into.

I think it's important to stay grounded in good human things.. the Rosary of the Blessed Vigin Mary helps me stay humble. I'm worried that all the sentimental stuff on this channel can make people so sentimental that they lose all feeling and anything good and humble and human about themselves. I happily recommend the Rosary of the blessed virgin Mary for anyone who wants a spiritual exercise to stay grounded and humble and solid. "They aren't but for you and everyone who has been kind to me, I'm willing." --- I pour torrent after torrent of magic into the matrix. My robe billows and dust and loose paper are blown away. While my friend twists into the shape of a monster. Spirits forgive me. Spirits condemn me. Spirits banish me. For I have transgressed. *I shall wield your chains. Yet you shall serve with your eyes clouded by chaos.* --- With that it was done. An invincible planar beast stood before me. Waiting for a command. Devoid of the smiling friend it used to be. "Durrence, defend this academy and its people. And kill every imperial soldier you find." And the slaughter began.

This reminds me of like a story of a person remembering his original planet about to be destroyed by a conquerer, and the child needs to leave before the planets explodes, leaving his/her family behind
