Thanks for this detailed video. I was in need to investigate my motor and this was really helpful. Wow, was mine a wreck! Rust all over the magnet, missing brush spring, brushes stuck with rust, armature carboned up, no way to salvage paper gaskets and two broken screw heads. New one on order!

You saved us $$$ just like everyone else! After 3 years it stopped working and then would intermittently work and not work. I think the thermal switch wire was just loose and then it actually triggered. I crimped one wire and pushed it down and it came right back to life. The bulb blew long ago but we don't miss that. Glad to hear that you see high quality design in this product because we love it.

The timer is likely on the logic board behind the touchpad and that has nothing you can service. Maybe there is a stuck button or loose wire causing a voltage shortage. I would say not likely. Now I can’t see what it is doing, but if you had a bad door switch, if it breaks contact it would reset the panel… since we know that when you open the door the panel goes dark. You would see the entire panel flash resetting the time… I would think to be the symptom.

Hello nice video, my two left monitors are not in line with my center monitor, any ideas?
@alwaystinkering6972
@alwaystinkering6972 2 ай бұрын
I would assume they are not all identical monitors with the mount holes in the same spot on each monitor. The center monitor has the largest adjustment range of the three. If you cannot get them to your liking then some type of plate on the side monitors or the center monitor to increase the offset would likely be the option available.

Would you know off the top of your head why 'CLOSE DOOR' error would be showing when the door is closed? Airfryer won't work because of this. It's a INSTANT VORTEXT SIDE CLOSING DOOR. Thanks.
@alwaystinkering6972
@alwaystinkering6972 3 ай бұрын
If it is not this particular model then I am not familiar with it. You are looking for the door switch. It may be visible or it may not. At some point in the door closure it is expected to make contact with some part of the moving door and trigger the switch. You can inspect for the switch. You would be looking for a cut in the plastic around the door or a protruding piece of plastic. One side of that location would have movement. The switch could also be inside and be triggered by an interior motion. This model had a standard off the shelf limit switch which made it replaceable. Best of luck.

Would this controller work with an LED that is powered by 2 AA batteries? It says the working voltage is DC12~24...
@alwaystinkering6972
@alwaystinkering6972 4 ай бұрын
I have never tried it but being below the 12v lower rating it probably would not. If you look at usb led and dimmers those operate at 5v. So they may operate with 3 batteries for 4.5 volts. That would have to be tested. Maybe you can find some costume led’s that have a remote. Those are designed to work with batteries.
@dianavsilva
@dianavsilva 4 ай бұрын
@@alwaystinkering6972thank you very much! So I changed the operation of the LEDs to 3 AAA batteries (by connecting it to an old 3 AA battery holder I had) and the remote worked BUT it was not enough to entirely stop the current. My guess is that these LEDs don't have any resistors and will turn on with any small amount of current that passes. Since I had ordered two controllers, I placed them in series and managed to entirely turn off (and on) using the controller. Definitely not the most elegant solution, but at least I managed to do something with the parts I already had. Thanks again for your help!

My fryer was inherited from a friend who said he had gotten it as a gift and it never worked. Upon investigation I found no signs of life when power was applied. Used your clear, close up; video I identified a wire disconnected from the thermal switch. I dug around in the wiring and found the wire that either had never been connected, or came undone. Reinstalled the wire and just like magic the fryer started to work and has continued to work flawlessly. Thanks for the clear concise video.

No. These controllers make dirty power by creating the flashing to give the illusion of traditional dimming. You want a DC motor controller. I don't know if I have seen one with a remote, but they are likely out there. I have use such things on some printing projects.

You would have no power if it was the thermal switch. You would have the interior light and no keyboard if it was the door switch. You have some other problem. Unfortunately it could be one of a couple of things from relays, to control chips or the element. That would make it hard to diagnose and fix without the right test equipment, knowledge of the machine and parts. Best of luck.

@alwaystinkering6972
@alwaystinkering6972 7 ай бұрын
Two choices... RGB as a single which requires 4 wires (a lot to manage). You could make it cleaner by buying pre-made Y connectors and such but the challenge will always be the qty of wire involved. Doing a couple of fixtures likely would not be bad. If you put a color controller (a compact in-line one), you could place one at each house. Keep in mind the color controllers would need full power as the input at each location... meaning no master dimmer on that power feed. You could do addressable LED's... that is 3 wire. You would still have to deal with connectors that might be harder to match. Unless you program a custom controller for addressable LED's you would not have the detail in color control. Personally... the individual color controller at each location would likely be the most manageable from a wiring standpoint, but a lot of on/off switches.

Some sample controllers... these are wifi controllers... so you would be able to group them together in a phone app... so they all turn on together, but you can control them together. www.amazon.com/dp/B073Y3WCKH The wifi controllers appear to be the same price as the RF controllers... so WIFI would do what you want. They would be an always on connection to the controllers. The controller would be near the fixture with the color light being attached directly. I have never tried these but they appear to do the same thing. No case they may get a little warmer to the touch. www.amazon.com/dp/B09B1WDM42 Keep in mind with color controllers you normally need the RGB connector at the controller side. You can ether solder them on www.amazon.com/dp/B01DH7VMP4 or do clip on ones... which may leave you wishing you soldered them... but should be easier to get started. Both would give you about a hand lengths of wire so you can put the controller farther from the fixture. www.amazon.com/dp/B07YFRT861

My Viking 535 was opened for cleaning and was working great. On reassembly the screen is now funky. I have for instance certain characters that aren't complete. I also can't select the stitch pattern. The sewing machine works for straight stiches but the screen is hard to interpret. Any idea if capacitor problem here? I'm assuming yours went completely dark and then replacing the caps solved your issue.
@alwaystinkering6972

I looked back at my photos. The LCD appears to be solder on so it is not a pressure contact that needs cleaning. They keyboard is a ribbon cable so check that is seated... but since you have the two problems I would go back and closely inspect your solder joints. Make sure you do not have any solder that carried over to another contact... for instance when a capacitor trace is really close to the capacitor joint. Also visually recheck your capacitor polarity and that your connections look good. Without seeing it there obviously is difficulty. The LCD would be IC driven so ether a circuit is shorted / incomplete or there is a voltage variance would be my guess. And as always with such problems we hope that whatever caused it did not contribute to some damage. Good Luck with your task.

Second time visiting. This time I needed to find out why my bevel stops allow me to swing clockwise from 90° to 45°, but not counterclockwise. Your detailed explanation super helpful. It’s been a while since I needed to do anything other than simple miter cut; today I needed to make right and left compound cuts for some hip and valley rafters. The saw was in my brother’s possession for a while and I’d forgotten what the black handle in the back, above the locking handle, was for. Interestingly, at least on of my stops is working well - I can always bring the blade up to full vertical. Now with your information I can lube it properly. By the way, your answer to my previous question was spot on. Thank you.

Hi there, i have installed a strip on the underside edge of the countertop of draws in my bedroom. I have a hafele touch switch that works well but would prefer it to be automated. I have an hefele pir sensor switch that keeps light on got 30 seconds, and just trying to figure a way to that each draw sets off the pir. At the moment i can only think of having string connect on each draw to the sensor and thread it through an eye screw so that each draw will make the sensor move enough to set it off. Can you think if anything else i could do??

Are you thinking of putting the PIR sensor inside the compartment with the drawer? If you were doing that I would consider magnetic switches if you wanted to go touchless. Multiple PIR switches... lets say you had multiple PIR switches and one light... it would not matter which switch tripped, the same light would turn on . Sometimes PIR switches don't like back power... when power arrives on they expect to be the load side. If you were to use the PIR switch outside the compartment... the brand offers a lot of switches... but the PIR's were rated for 3.4 meters to trigger... that would mean anyplace close and the liights would turn on. What ever you are thinking, if you have a switch you should setup some type of test to make sure it will trigger the way you want. I think some of regular switch per drawer would be more affective... it is absolute, however without the timer attribute, it does add another way to leave the lights on in a room. Maybe there is a timer circuit that could go in before the light to limit the on-time.
