Looks like they added common upgrades, making it look 922r compliant out of the box. So, if you have a Gen 1 modded to 922r already, there isn't a reason to change to Gen 2.

Agreed, they didn’t reinvented the wheel. Just a long overdue update of what people were already doing. Nice to have it all ready to go out of the box for first time Benelli owner like myself!

P30L with HK comp and 22rnd mag ext is just gangster! I just wish they made a RMR option without having to spend $380 on sending it out for custom work.. with that said, with the trigger upgrade and the rmr upgrade, it’s one of the best handguns one could own imo. You get what you pay for

During your reload, you are looking at the ground too much. Try resting the buttstock on top of your shoulder, and hold the barrel up more parralell with the ground whilst you reload using the violin method, so that you can better keep the threat in your line of sight/peripherals.

@WalterRitchey You're doing fine for self-defense. Unless you're using a competition set up on a competition course, the "John Wick" competition style of reload isn't your best bet for an engagement. Reloading from cover or at least concealment with your non firing hand is more important, to get the weapon back in the fight as quickly as possible, even firing from the low ready mid reload, should a threat interrupt you. Topping off as you go, before you're empty, etc. No one active duty is reloading an M1014 Taran Tactical style in CQB. Ultimately, do what you want, but I wouldn't worry too much about how you reload, as long as its done safely, and reliably.

I had issues with the American Eagle rounds as well. Then years later I bought another box to see if it had gotten any better, and no change. There was literally only two common guns chambered in 5.7 for years, and they were making ammo that causes failures in one of them, for years. LOL

My opinion and or understanding IS 180 g for relyability may lean toward 200g . The mrd 510 has a heavier spring that mitigates the recoil better than the tactical , the mrd fn510 and the tactical fn510 are more reliable or as relyable as anything offering in 10m . The trigger stinks , looking forward to trigger upp grade . May be a bit finicky in extreme cold , that may be true of any automatic .

I agree to this. Everyone at my gun shop thought the barrel length was short on this gun, but it shot accurately. As soon as I started breaking in the trigger better and getting over some of the recoil anticipation in my head, it shot some pretty good groups IMO. I know the 509 had striker breakage issues so I’m hoping that has been resolved for this model. I haven’t heard of any issues yet. I saw a couple guys shooting 10mm Glocks and if they limped worsted it even a little, it would have a malfunction. So I will credit FN for making what seems like a totally reliable 10mm offering and at a decent price point.

Oddly enough Apex makes a 509 trigger, but doesn’t advertise anything for the 545 or 510 platforms. As of right now, I believe you’re stuck with the stock. As much as I hated it at first, after 200rd or so I was getting what I consider pretty decent groups considering the caliber and all. It’s definitely usable, but I don’t love it. Also to my understanding, FN doesn’t recommend dry firing their striker guns as it risks breaking the striker. I think that’s a bit absurd, since Glocks, HK, etc don’t have a problem with it. Just kind of depends what you want it for. If it’s a hunting sidearm, the capacity is great especially at the prices I’ve been seeing these at (they were over a grand a year ago… ouch).

M4 vs 1301 pls
@WalterRitchey
@WalterRitchey 16 күн бұрын
I sold my 1301 to fund the M4, but here’s a breakdown. The 1301 caters to what people want in 2024. You can mount what you want, controls are all oversized, ergonomics well thought out, very low recoil, very fast, versatile, just looks and feels great. The M4 is built like a tank - not that the 1301 isn’t reliable in any way, but polymer gun with an aluminum receiver vs the Benelli is no contest. The updated model I have here helps bring the M4 up to modern day with optics mounting, a rail, etc. Some have commented saying this shotgun kicked me around like a little girls and honestly it kind of feels that way too… Maybe it’s just training and fundamentals, but my 1301 with the Mesa Tactical stock and Limbsaver pad had no recoil. You could mag dump buckshot and it was nothing. I’ve had second guessed about whether I made the right decision or if I should’ve bought the newest 1301 Mod 2. I saw one in person last week and I noticed that brand new the stock / pistol grip was slightly canted and didn’t line up with the trigger guard. That was one of my gripes with my 1301. I wanted a pistol grip stock, Mesa Tactical is kind of the go to and what Beretta is using on their factory Mod 2 now. Mine always was coming loose on me. Looks like they still have some kinks to work out. On the other hand, the Benelli has none. You either love it or hate it, but for the price you’re getting the world’s toughest semi auto. They even have two pistons so hypothetically if it got so dirty that one piston malfunctioned it would still run with just the other one. That’s hard to knock. If I bought a second tactical shotgun, I would buy a M3 which is semi auto / pump convertible or an old school 90s M1 Super just because of how smooth they are and the cool factor.

I don’t think Tisas is a budget 1911. Tisas uses top notch milled steel internals, forged steel slide and frame and use up to date CNC machines to strict milspec pattern. Tisas price point is to get their products out there.
@WalterRitchey
@WalterRitchey 18 күн бұрын
By budget I mean price point, not build! It certainly has some quality components. I do think it had some issues at first, but the malfunctions I had after getting it back from warranty were likely my fault. I wanted to give Tisas another chance and bought one of their new 2011. I’m having so much fun with it that I’m testing it out a bit longer before doing a video, but I’m really happy with it!

@WalterRitchey
@WalterRitchey 25 күн бұрын
I’ll have to check on the SKU, but these do not accept chokes. There’s some interesting testing of fixed open bore barrels vs barrels with an open bore choke in it and how they pattern buckshot. It seems like if you don’t need to tighten the choke that you’re better off with something fixed. The cons would be that you can’t thread in a door breach muzzle device or a shotgun suppressor that attaches that way.

The magazine thing was odd, sometimes I would think it was locked in place and it would pop out. To be safe, I started inserting the magazine with the slide back much like a MP5 reload is done with the bolt locked back. As long as I did that it was good. It’s a little funny I actually like how the Rock grip feels slimmer as opposed to the blockiness of the FN, but I do feel more comfortable with the FN. I’ve handed that gun to a relatively new shooter that had never fired one before and on the first mag he had a great looking group. I think that’s a pretty natural handgun to pick up. I enjoy shooting 22 too, but they get gummed up with lead quickly, the 5.7 are just so clean and reliable they’re fun to practice with! It was easy to burn through some ammo testing it out haha.

NVM, in hearing you only got 1 mag lets me know the answer to my #2 question. How crazy you happen to receive a defect..but It was really the mag not the gun.
@WalterRitchey
@WalterRitchey Ай бұрын
It was one of their Blem models, which I didn’t notice any cosmetic blemishes on it. Even after getting it back with a new mag I had a couple hiccups, but they were typically things you could clear quickly. I tested a lot of Fiocchi 40gr fmj as well as some FN 40gr vmax and AAC 40gr fmj. In my FN Five-Seven I’ve also run all three of those ammo types with total reliability (only one malfunction in my time of ownership). I feel like PSA did a good job overall on this handgun. I really don’t like the take down procedure and I do feel like they could’ve spent more time and money on designing higher quality magazines. Overall, they seem like they’re improving quality from where they were years ago. My biggest fear is how high of volume they do and how many different platforms they’re developing at the same time. I’d like to see them really focus on working out any issues with their existing models before moving onto their shotgun project, their 5.7 sub gun, etc.

I've used both in competition, currently using an M2 but my results were: The SLP is a heavier gun, it 'handles' the recoil better, and so, while it's operating system isn't as fast as the blink, it allows the shooter to more quickly get back onto target imo. The Beretta's operating speed makes up for it's comparatively snappy recoil profile. It's light and handy like the Benelli, and it shoots faster than the Benelli. But the differences are TINY and I can load the Benelli faster so I stuck with the M2. All of them are great though, too bad FN didn't keep producing/updating their excellent shotguns!

Even the stoeger cougar has a better reset than the hk. The only other thing i am changing is the bigger mag release since it throws my grip off
@WalterRitchey
@WalterRitchey Ай бұрын
The mag release takes a little getting used to, but I prefer it over anything else now! Oddly enough I feel like my usp and hk45c have the most predictable reset. It seems like everything they made since the early 2000s has a longer reset though. I assume that was a request for duty use as civilian market is an afterthought to them.

I was thinking hard about getting the gray gun’s trigger. Been shooting my CZ P01 and its been my edc for a good while now. Today, decided to put a few rounds through the P30 and its a big difference. My CZ’s trigger is much more crisp and has a better break, while the HK is very mushy. The P30 only has 700 rds through her so maybe the trigger will get better? I definitely need to practice more, thats for sure. It was my main carry a good while before the CZ.
@WalterRitchey
@WalterRitchey Ай бұрын
Ahh my friend picked up a couple of the CZ guns and they do feel quite a bit different. Especially how you can decock them, but the hammer stays maybe a quarter cocked where any HK has a very hefty 12ish lb pull. The CZ have quite a short trigger so you may benefit from the short reset kit, but I would probably keep the factory curved trigger bar. The flat face trigger will change perceived weight, and will change the break and reset points which may or may not effect training on other guns. I found if I changed too much, it made it more difficult to transition between different models of handgun which is also why I’ve avoided the LEM triggers. Depending on your comfort level, you can DIY the install too, there are good videos online, it’s just a bit tedious. I wouldn’t change the firing pin spring that they give you though. It’s too light in my opinion. It’s very flimsy. So basically all you have to do is replace one metal plate in the hammer control assembly.
