I'm from 1949, 75 now, the music back then was great, really unbeatable never to be reproduced again, ever, but when I look at the fashion, the clothes, the long hair now it looks just plain stupid, I cannot believe I wore clothes like that and with long hair as well, sickening!

That guitar solo - are we just not gonna talk about it? My whole life I've been pointing it out and it's like nobody else ever even noticed this song has a face-melting (for its time) guitar solo with these blazing Dorian/Aeolian legato runs that I'd expect to hear on a John McLaughlin record....not in a goddamn MONKEES song. I would make a joke about a glitch in the matrix right now, but unfortunately the manosphere has COMPLETELY FUCKING RUINED jokes about glitches in the matrix. But i digress. What were we talking about again? Whoaaa....so shiny.......

Just one question. Why is no one dancing in the audience?🤷♀🤣 I dance and groove the s**t out of this every time I hear it. And that's a lot because it seems to appear in many of my playlists and as a result Spotify inserts it when there's nothing 'in queue'! Which I'm okay with. Incidentally, I never heard this song before the great Bill Burr brought it to my attention. I'm a 46yr old Englishman... I don't know why it wasn't released in the UK (I guess it wasn't), it would have made the top 10 easily.

Well, despite the dub on the music, this is truly one of the gret renditions the lads put on in honor of Howl'n Wolf who they thought was God. Great slide guitar and harmonica, solid rhythm from Charlie and Bill, dead on vocals Mick for a white kid, truly a delight to listen too 55 years later. Right on you wankers. And now 80yo and still kick'n it on tour, hell yeah.....PS that white tear drop guitar Brian plays here? It's at the Hard Rock Cafe in NYC on the wall, check it out sometime.

This performance was from the Ed Sullivan Show. Ed made them sing Let’s Spend Some Time Together. Notice how Mick rolls his eyes as he sings the chorus.

The guy actually singing here is Don Galucci, not Lynn Easton the guy you see. Half the guys you see here were NOT on the record. Don Gallucci, who was the keyboards & singer quit the band just after this was recorded in somebody's garage. His mom made him quit. He was way underage, & still in school. He went on to form his own band a couple of years later that had good success in the PNW called Don & The Goodtimes! The original song, written & performed first by Richard Berry, is a calypso Bellafonte kind of thing. A Northwest band, the biggest, most successful band on the PNW scene was The Wailers. They gave it the R & R treatment. In fact, the Kingsmen ripped The Wailers off, even down to every note of the guitar solo! Mike Mitchell, the guitar player you see here, went to Wailers shows many times to get it down. Rich Dangel, The Wailers guitar player at the time wrote the solo. It wasn't long until a zillion bands had their own versions. Paul Revere & The Raiders, The Sonics, The Counts, everybody was playing SOME version of it, whether they recorded it or not.. Richard Berry wrote the song in the late fifties, so it had been around a while even in '63. The Kingsmen got the National credit, & had a few other National releases that did moderately well. The Jolly Green Giant was one. A cover of The Olympics, Big Boy Pete with new lyrics. There was a big dance scene in the Northwest. Good bands, lots of skating rinks & school gyms turned into dance halls. I know because I was part of it. Moderate success with several bands.
