The correct name should be Hellward. So did you have issues regarding the size/dimenstions from the Hellward to that one you have installed?
@AutomotiveElectronics
@AutomotiveElectronics 13 минут бұрын
It's roughly the same size but differs in the mounting. You can get it mounted though with a little creativity

Most likely just a dry joint on that BGA device if there is some shock or excessive thermal cycling those tiny solder balls give in. And it's not proprietary, you can still buy it at ali, before you could buy it from digikey but it just went obsolete which is expected for cluster from a 2011 vehicle. Surprised an electronics repair shop can't reflow BGA...
@AutomotiveElectronics
@AutomotiveElectronics 11 күн бұрын
probably can ...most likely can. just havent done one yet. cheaper easier and less time spent to clone a working cluster...of which i had 3 on hand. I will retain this cluster also so that may be a good challange for me when ive got some spare time. Also have never tried pulling the complete flash on those....so yea just need the time to do the RND.

You could try to reflow the prossesor. This is leadfree soldier. so it flow at 350-400 celcius. Use flux, lots of flux and heat the cpu till it moves around. Then cool and retest. You could try that. chances are that it will be fixed if the fault is not internal. Their are lots of video's about reflowing CPU and other chips. Also at louis Rossman's channel. Keep up the good work brother. Repair, reuse. God bless.

Your killing me. I learned how to do this repair 11 years ago from a youtube that was super low quality but the guy killed it on the info. Had zero soldering skills but have had much practice over the last 10 years with guitar repair and 3000 lbs printers. I gotta ask you to start out with, "WHY IN THE HELL DID YOU TAKE ALL THOSE T8S OUT?" For the love of Zues, that was a waste of time. Just use a razor knife and cut the silicone holding the two halves together. To my knowledge, there are 6 main points that cause the failure. I fixed them, and they lasted 4 years. Got the light again and was too lazy to take it out again which is the actual hard part on my GMC yukon, although I have better tools now so not as difficult as the first time. Its fiddly since you have to unscrew the T20s that are facing up with only about 8 inches clearance from the floorboard. PPeople, do not take all those screws out, just the 4 to remove it from your car. you're welcome. Oh, and as long as you don't jam the knife too deep, no worries.
@AutomotiveElectronics
@AutomotiveElectronics 14 күн бұрын
Well......The T8s are only in the older modules...the newer ones dont have them! so you probably have experience with the newer modules which are exactly the same but without the T8s and there are definitly more than 6 points that you need to go over. If your in there soldering already then why would you not solder all the points that youve (I) seen fail in the past. Sorry you felt it was a waste of youre time
@fastj1962
@fastj1962 14 күн бұрын
@@AutomotiveElectronics Makes sense I guess. I didn't know there were other models. What do the T8s hold in?Ah, I see now that I'm not looking on my phone. Yeah, mines a 2003 GMC Yukon. I watched the video after I was done or I might have done more. A few weeks ago, I fixed my airfryer and the dude had me dissasemble the whole thing which was like 60 screws when all I had to do was remove 6. lol Now there, I was pissed....haha Yeah, fixed that too.
@AutomotiveElectronics
@AutomotiveElectronics 14 күн бұрын
the t8s hold the lid that i took out in place as well as the silicon seal. i actually like those better because after you reseal them the screws clamp the lid back down and theres no need to clamp it till it dries. and trust me ...im not about doing extra work for no reason. and im all about fixing everything i can ...what pisses me off is when i open something up and they have purposefully designed it to be unrepairable. the whole industry is headed that direction though and to add insult to injury when its designed to be thrown away they tell you a replacement is unavailable or discontinued. recently litterally thousands of chevy trucks where stuck parked due to unavailble and unfixable TCMs ...I tried several times to repair those without any success.

Reminds me of when I worked as an electronic test technician back in the 80's. Most bad solder connections where caused by cold soldering in the flow soldering process. They used flux that was cleaned by water baths. It did not allow the heat penetration needed to allow the PCB board through hole to "suck up" the solder to create a true bond. To make matters worse vibration over time makes a tiny component weight fracture the solder joints. Solder is a mixture of tin and lead both a very weak bond.

You sir, are an Effin genius!!! I followed your info exactly, and fixed my brake modual!!!! I’ve had to live with the lights on for several years, after I paid a shop to fix it, and it only lasted 6-8 months! I figured it wasn’t worth paying again- then I saw your tutorial video and said “what the hell! Nothing ventured, nothing gained!” And tried it!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!! On a side note- I used a magnifying glass, AND my readers to super zoom in, and still couldn’t see any crack- but decided since I was already there- go for it! Glad I did!!! SUBSCRIBED!!

Most ABS wire harness and solenoids are not soldered, are some sort of expanding pins. With all of the vibration and abs solenoid magnetic vibration, looks like the special pins wear out the hole and continuity contacts they're in. Soldering might be a bad idea, might break the board; and so what I did was twist the pins about 15 degrees clockwise, in order to a fresh unworn contact point. Engineers should have tried using conductive springs underneath these pins, might eliminate the wear.

Hi, I just want to thank you for this video. My dad is a top-of-the-line car mechanic, but he has not much experience with electronics. Me on other hand, I have some level of experience in electronics due to my Computer Science graduation, but little to no knowledge in specifics of car electronics, such as ECU. My dad's car has flooded in the recent floods that happened in south of Brazil. Despite being a bit more sophisticated than an 1991 Mitsubishi ECU, this video will help me have some guidelines to diagnose my dad's 2016 VW Gol ECU and other sophisticated electronics in the car that stopped working due to the flooding. Thank you.

How did you tel by l that the fuel gauge was bad? I got one on a non diesel. And the gauge does not return to empty without power. I took it all out and ohm between the signal and ground, and manually moved the floater arm. And it didn’t change Ohm’s. I feel like that’s a clear indication, but I second guessed myself.
