I cut off my thumb, but on my non-dominant hand. And I have a very hands-on job. They gave me the “absorbable” ones (they just fall out). Is that bc of the severity of the injury? It was put in a splint for a week and I wasn’t allowed to go back to work during the time, and then I wasn’t allowed to touch let alone lift anything over a pound for a month.

fun fact about dissolvable stitches: they don't work for all people! if you have ehlors danlos your body will absorb them which will cause more issues!

They could also just attatch fabric restraints to the bed frame, and just have the person pull on them rather than having their arms restrained by them.

Once my epi started wearing off and they said to start pushing, I had my dgt out in a half hour. While I was pushing they told me I didn’t need to push so hard. My response was, “nope, the epi is wearing off and if you think I’m sticking around for that pain, you’re nuts, she’s coming out now”. She was out in 25 minutes. They said they were actually surprised she came out that fast. I just looked at them and shook my head and said “you told me to push, I pushed, what did you think I was going to do”🤷🏻‍♀️ They actually said they weren’t used to someone taking them so literally😂

Because pushing while on your back is the worst position to push in and some times you need help in that position. Totally working against gravity!! There are much better and easier positions to push in!!

Not to sound like a granny, but "back in my day wr would have loved to stay on their insurance that long!" But joking aside, i am glad you were able to stay on their insurance longer than my generation was able to stay on our parents' insurance. We were out on our own far too young to be able to afford it (especially those of us with pre-existing conditions that made insurance hard to afford if we could rven get insured at all).

Everytime the wound doctor finds a dressing with no initials and date I get yelled at 😂 But to her defense she always tells me "But it does look good and clean" 😂 and always report any anomalies to her immediately so she can change orders if necessary.

That's how you talk to these people. I know because I live among them.
