With regards to the Warrior armor upgrade package, I can kind of see militaries rushing kit that IRL was deployed in 1990-91 onto the Battlefield in the Summer or Autumn of 1989 if there is a Third World War raging, that's somewhat understandable. Also I think in Guards Tank divisions, at least the ones outfitted with T-80s the mobilized units slated to reinforce them were equipped with T-62s. We see that in the Divisions in WARNO, so T-80s and T-62s in the same unit makes a degree of sense. Though I think in the original alpha build they had a T-72 model that was supposed to be the medium tank in game. The abundance of T-80Us is likely because it was the most advanced design the Soviets had at the time that they had actually produced en masse so they prioritized new builds of the T-80U rather than the T-80Bs or BVs when the war started (or converted older T-80s up to the T-80U standard), so the older models slowly became extinct in the German meat grinder while T-80Us became more numerous as they were the model available as replacements. It's similar to what we see in Ukraine with T-90Ms, where we see losses of them almost every other day while T-90As are as rare as white rhinos as most have been upgraded to the T-90M standard and T-90Ms are the only new build tanks Russia currently produces, though there are rumors of T-80 production restarting at OmskTransMash, hopefully we get a T-80UM2 obr. 2025, that'd be sweet.
@guy-be-man69083 күн бұрын
Yeah from what I have seen in the extremely early trailers, the T-72 was the medium tank. I think it would have been nice for the T-80 models to randomly change between the Bs and Us.

If WIC utilized a division/battlegroup system similar Eugen's Wargame and WARNO, it would have made the campaign and the multiplayer much more interesting gameplay wise (Example, VDV units in the American Theater and Guards Tank division units in Central European missions of the Soviet campaign.
@OperatorMax19933 күн бұрын
I agree on that. Like how for the USA there is the 24th infantry division which includes a National Guard unit from Georgia. Or how the USSR has units joining forces with East Germans (along with the 56th Air Assault consisting of former Soviet Afghan war veterans)
@justinsantiago9555Күн бұрын
@@OperatorMax1993 Yeah, using a division/battlegroup system or the "task-forces" system of Microproses's Regiments would allow for an implementation of subfactions as well as unit variety depending on the theater of each campaign. On a sidenote, if I were to make the WIC campaign I would also involve the Canadian Armed Forces for the North American missions. I don't think Canada would just sit by twiddling their thumbs while their closest ally and neighbor was being invaded just south of the economically-vital province of British Colombia. The Canadians would be realistically just as alarmed as their American counterparts. I imagine they would send troops over the border to help drive the Soviets out of Seattle and the rest of Washington State.

Regiments is also supposedly a partly inspired successor to WIC, and is getting French, Canadian, Czech, and Dutch task forces in an upcoming DLC. It already has the West and East Germans, Polish, British, Americans, and Soviets, plus a Belgian group as well. But yeah, it would be awesome if someone made an actual connected sequel, but unfortunately, with Massive Entertainment doing Goobisoft’s bidding, I don’t think we’ll ever get a sequel. We can only speculate to what happened to Colonel Sawyer and his men, and how WW3 ended…..
@TripleAlfafa4 күн бұрын
@@guy-be-man6908 Regiments is very much it's own thing but I see it more like a less micro-intensive Wargame. A WiC remake would have to be more like a traditional RTS and would likely have to compromise realism for balance, though a smart dev team would embrace the variety in creating more interesting factions and getting the feel of a third world war just right.

@@guy-be-man6908 Canadians would make most sense as a supplementary army to the USA and NATO, since Ottawa would likely do what US does and be available wherever they are needed. Korea would likely be the hottest Asian front, with Vietnam and Japan working with their respective Koreas and Chinas. Australia would likely also make an appearance if only as a few units as part of a grander US-aligned coalition. The Warsaw Pact would just be to the Soviet Union what NATO would be to the USA, a ridiculously multi-cultural task force. As for Finland, it likely would choose neutrality as long as it could take but if forced to take a side, likely choose the Soviet Union out of pragmatic reasons. As for other notable neutrals, Sweden would likely end up choosing NATO and Yugoslavia would choose Warsaw Pact. Austria and Switzerland would in turn do their damnest to stay out and be rather flexible on who they side with.

The Soviet army is represented in the game... It's very strange. These are infantry uniforms, which are massively wearing "Butane" camouflage, which, like the bulletproof vests of anti-tank fighters with machine gunners, were intended ONLY for special forces. Airborne soldiers wear ceremonial berets. Not real insignia on the equipment (at least I do not know such). The developers clearly took materials not from the Red Army but from the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation of the 90s. And remembering the comment on the last video, the soldiers of the Soviet army disliked the AK-74 VERY much, so much so that the units changed them to the AKM series at the first opportunity. Also, the MI-24D presented in the game was rarely used in advanced units at the time of 89, it would be more logical to see the MI-24V. And yes, I'm sorry for the grammar, English is not my native language

With regards to the Cayuse vs Kiowa, keep in mind there is a World War on and everyone is pulling everything out of their warehouses that runs and can put lead down range. And in game the Homefront is, somehow, of secondary importance to Europe so it's possible the Kiowas are over there while the Cayuse got pressed back into service stateside. Also for the USSR VDV using the BMP-2 instead of BMD-2 in game this is something that has actually happened in Ukraine where VDV units being used as shock assault infantry have traded in their lightly armored BMDs for the relatively thicker armor of the BMP line. There are also just a lot more BMP-2s than BMD-2s, same for Gvozdikas in place of Nonas, so they might be using those since replacements are easier as they have more mobilized conscripts trained on those systems. I also don't think all the units in the Soviet Invasion Force are VDV, there are probably a fair few regular Rifle or Tank Divisions providing support and bulk. But otherwise yeah pretty spot on.

You missed some though. USA - The Abrams used by the US in this game is an M1A2 variant instead of the A1. This also mean main gun of this tank is the 125mm instead of the 105mm. - M60 Patton is the main tank in your arsenal despite them already retired from Army service and was trasferred to National Guard Reserve. Though we did see the National Guard joining the Army in this game so this is forgivable to some extent. - M551 Sheridan would've been gone from the service by 1989. Only the small garrison in West Berlin and some base in Germany still use them before being replace. - Charperel being the main AA unit instead of the Avenger. - A10 Airstrike is capable of dropping a bunker buster. That shouldn't be possible. - Humvee as a repair vehicle. NATO - Leopard 2A6 instead of the earlier A2 or A3 in 1989. - Eurofighter as the main airstrike. That's doesn't make sense since NATO intend to use it as a fighter primarily. Soviet Union - T-64 tank as the MBT of the Soviet instead of the T-72. - T-80U being the primary variant in this game despite only 1,000 of them being made by 1989. T80B or T80BV would be more appropriate.
@guy-be-man69085 күн бұрын
For NATO, there actually isn’t a Eurofighter, what is seen is actually a French Air Force Mirage 2000. The type entered service in 1984. The leopard 2 variant seen in game is a version before the 2A6, unless you play through Modern Warfare mod where yes, there is a 2A6. From what I’ve seen online, the Avenger began operational capacity around 1989, after deliveries in 1988. Having a Chaparral makes sense I would say. Actually, having either would make sense. Sheridans continued service with the 82nd Airborne until the mid 1990s, seeing final duty in the Gulf War in 91’. But it did seem that they were very rare by 1989, only really being used by the Airborne, some units, and the National Training Center. It is stated in the World in Conflict unit description that the Abrams variant is the A1. However you are absolutely correct for Soviet ones. I do believe you are also right about the M60 Patton as well.
