See you decided on the Pro 16. I went with the Live 16. Only had it a week so far. The larger size really helps and I am seeing things and fish I never saw before. So far I am very happy with it. I am looking forward to your future videos to see how yours looks. Caught 31 on Lake Oconee Friday. Caught 39 on Lake Russell a few days before that. New unit is paying off already ! Range - water column = distance from boat. Pause the screen, look at the depth, go to the top of screen and water column is the same depth, so if you see crappie in water column they are under the boat. They show up on 2D the same time they show up in water column, 2D is under the boat a cone 1/3 the depth.

Split your screen, side and 2D. 20 feet of water……20 degree cone, 6.6 ft cone. Go over a bush shown on your 2D, with your logic, the bush will not show up on the bottom of side scan.

Go to 50 ft. water and scan 40 feet left and right…….explain?

The image is from SI and DI combined. If you run exactly over something, you will see it on both sides of SI. Bait fish is directly under your boat. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hclpnbaF1afdh5c.htmlsi=74G45jD5OuveYi4r&t=376 That is why they are on both sides of SI. So your video is true only for part of the water column which is not covered by DI beam. If you want to measure horizontal distance to them, you need to subtract their depth from that number to get the correct distance.

How about finding a big rock underwater with traditional sonar and waypointing it. Then pregressively drive your boat parallel to it at incremental or decreasing distances from it with side scan until it just shows up right at the interface between the dark area and light area? That will help you ‘calibrate’ your mental image of what is going on I think??!!

Directly behind you is where the chattooga River comes in which is quite shallow... But along that bank where it goes straight up at the shore... It's deep.

Bull sluice is a reservoir area on the Chattahoochee near Sandy Springs... Although lake Tugalo is off bull sluice Rd on the south Carolina side .... The bull sluice area up there is actually a part of the chattooga River that has class 5 rapids . Lake Tugalo is part of the lake Burton chain between the Tallulah gorge and lake yonah. But yeah, bull sluice is the area of the Chattahoochee below the Roswell road bridge and Morgan falls dam. Just clarifying. The tugaloo river is different too. Lake tugalo is made by the Chatooga and Tallulah rivers.

My steering cable snapped the short piece broke off from the top hole now I gotta get the rest of the cable out from the bottom hole

I believe because of the way side scan works, by default it automatically compensates for depth. Think about it, side scan can't show what's on the bottom, 15 feet from the side of the boat if you're in 25 feet of water. Because of the sonar angle, it won't show bottom until the 25 foot range, which is the same as the depth.
