Until now Sokolov's was my favorite rendition and I even heard him play it live last week but I must say that this is now my favorite version of this piece.

Captures the tragedy. Brings out brilliantly the edginess of the music and the violent outbursts. Blistering.

This was obviously Debussy's answer to the German symphony.

I am in awe and in tears whenever I hear this piece. Seemingly so simple and yet so effective, so serene, so full of beauty. I have never been able to connect to God(s) nor to religion(s), but this piece does the miracle. It shows me that I have my God too : his name is J.S. Bach !

Are there more listeners who find that 3rd movement a bit too fast?

Di tutte le incisioni della sonata op.111 di Pollini, questa del 1977 è la sua migliore....forse la migliore in assoluto dacché esistono i dischi e CD !

I am a huge admirer of Horowitz, but when it comes to Beethoven piano works, I prefer Brendel. He "owns" the music. Others sound like they're trying, but for me, Brendel's command is unparalleled.
