That Bull looked extremely impressive. We keep ours in a barn with access to pasture that I planted with a pasture mixture. We love raising bottle calves.

I admire Farmers!!! What a HUGE responsibility! You are obviously very very good to your animals! Sure! They're livestock...food..but they deserve a good live and some loving!! I'm not sure if that black calf loves you or is he is impatient for the food! You did specify that these are Bull\Bobby Calves...Oh!! One Heifer!

I would have cleaned the spark plugs and the points and reset the gap on the points after I cleaned any corrosion off them first. Then checked oil and water and probably fixed the fuel line so it wouldn't be leaking or sucking air into the fuel line.

For about 10 years I did most of the milking on my grandmothers farm and used surge milkers. First milk was hauled in milk cans and after a couple years when I was doing the milking we went to a bulk tank but ended up it was more work because we had to carry the milk to the milk room after each cow got milked. At one time was milking 70 cows and using 4 milkers and carrying the milk kept me hopping. Twice a day, 7 days a week, then cleaning the milk room, barn and feeding the cows, calves and all the outside chores when the days was done I went to bed and running around and getting in trouble never entered my mind.

if you arnt smart enough to file the points on something like that after it has been sitting......you should probably just leave it the f#ck alone, go back inside and play playstation or something

You probably have this problem resolved at this point but I am gunna give you a tip in those pumps. If they don’t have oil going to them they will not pull a vacuum. I see that you don’t have the oil can on the oiler just make sure that you oil getting to the vanes and it will work great!

I milked cows with a surge bucket milker for 40 years. Switched to pipeline in 2005. One thing.... sitting like a catcher milking cows is rather dangerous ! One direct swipe with foot / hoof.....and take your knee out ! Kneel on one knee closest to the cow. This way the cows foot can move with out touching you ! I know. I learned the hard way !

Maybe you explained it, but why do you have to castrate the calf?
@TwinCreeksFarm-jr1cf
@TwinCreeksFarm-jr1cf 3 жыл бұрын
There's a couple of reasons. It's partly a safety thing, bulls are more aggressive and more likely to hurt us and each other. It also changes the way they grow to make them less muscled, more marbled, more tender.

I was taught to slightly pinch the hose between the milker lid & milk cup. You could feel the milk going through there. When one teat ran dry, we'd drop that cup. All four teats didn't run dry at the same time. We weren't finished until the last teat ran dry. I hated this system. It was far more work than I cared for. I sure appreciated pipeline when I milked for other people who had modern equipment. That strap was called a Sure-Shingle strap, or that's how it was pronounced. I'm not sure how it is properly spelled.

@@TwinCreeksFarm-jr1cf We had about 30 head at our peak. We milked about 25 at all times. We had a 10-stanchion barn, so we had to switch out all the time which added to the frustration. My father was a railroad engineer, so this was secondary income. It was a lot of work & frustration.

Yes, moving them around I'm sure would slow things down. My grandparents milked 25-30, but all in a tie stall so they didn't have to get moved around to milk.

Great video ! I milked cows with a bucket milker up until 2010 and switched to pipeline. A regret in reality. The cost of heating water and detergent went through the roof ! One word.......... Please kneel when between cows. That cows leg / foot can destroy your knee cap and or leg in a slit second ! If kneeling on one leg you stay totally out of reach and safe. Putting the knee out there is only asking for trouble. I know ! The leather strap I guess is called a Surcingle ?
