This house was built in the 1920's with cast iron drainpipes, I nought it in 1981 and noticed the old Republic steel cabinet double sink in the kitchen was slow to drain. U tried a few different declogging methods but nothing worked for more than a couple of days. There were no clean outs so I drilled a 5/8" in the drain pipe where is was on a 45 skope into the main stack in the cellar. Using a electricians snake i worked mt way up throgh a clog that was mostly hair, and bobby pins - the women had been using the deep sink to wash their hair. i clamped some silicone rubber over that hole in 1981 and it's still there in 2024, efat sink drains just fine now. Where there's a will there's a way.

Cable looks like 6/8 sectional. You can also run 1 1/4 sectional on a drill for heavy roots or when snaking through roof vent.

Why wouldn't u run a camera down the line to ck it ? Sure u have one on the truck. Make it part of the service hell it prob will bring in more work ohh look the pipe is broken u need a reline or replacement. I mean why do roots keep coming in is the pipe to old or broken or disconnected.

Why dont customers ever move there stuff. I hate it when i go to do something & there is tons of peoples junk all over the place. When a service person comes to my house i always have everything moved out the way its just common sense.

Question. How do you know where the blockage is without a camera?
@DrainMonkey
@DrainMonkey 2 ай бұрын
it all depends, but for this specific video, when toilets were flushed, it wasnt coming into the tank which is where all the water used in house leads to. Also water was leaking into basement from under the toilet. diagnosing problem first and then make a plan to fix issue

You could'nt pull the toilet upstairs and snake through there ? Better than cutting a hole in the vent pipe !
@DrainMonkey
@DrainMonkey 2 ай бұрын
the issue with what you said is that the main line wasnt affected, this was a kitchen stack line, meaning picked up the second floor and first floor kitchen then picked up laundry line and mop sink before heading down and then tie into main drain
@um8440
@um8440 3 ай бұрын
Did you see how weak the pull on your hose is? That tell me you are using the wrong nozzle for the hose, it dont have the power to pull the hose down that is why the hose is moving back and forth, weak hose, you are using the 1/4 nozzle with reducer from 3/8 hose down, when you should of use the 3/8 nozzle at 8to 9gpm.

@DrainMonkey
@DrainMonkey 3 ай бұрын
Wipes and Grease, pipe from homes into manhole exits pipe into a through then back into pipe, wipes and paper towels get hung up along the way, thus creating small blockage that in time gets bigger.
@Simonsimon-fy3hq
@Simonsimon-fy3hq 3 ай бұрын
That's how they are supposed to look. It's not a main drain and the liquid should drain away slowly into a leach field. The paper and solids should settle at the bottom of the tank , then when it also breaks down that to will be carried into the leach field. Wet wipes that are supposed to be biodegradable are a also big problem, as they don't break up.
