The worst few episodes of an otherwise brilliant programme. The introduction of a useless Deputy NSA is demeaning to the other actors and to those high grade individuals who have held the appointment in real life.

today you can not be "dropped off" in the dead of night in the center of DC - you put your life in danger. Although this one of the greatest creative series of all time - just like the Democrats they represent, it is oblivious to reality and has led us to a very dangerous world. I'm pretty sure there's a "Friends" reference in here. At about 3:30 in, Josh says that "there's a coffee shop across the street. You'll read it there." Why a coffee shop? Why not a diner or a bar? Look at the fountain. That's the fountain in the opening credits of every Friends episode. There's a coffee shop across the street.

This is one of many episodes that prove why Timothy Busfield should have been added to the main cast, and Danny Concannon a regular character on the show. He has great chemistry with the other cast and, while he doesn't have the brat pack fame of Rob Lowe, he would have fit in great amongst the other characters.

I love CJ's reaction to Josh's disastrous briefing - it's almost worse than the root canal would have been.

I loved the little reminder of the intense loyalty that Leo inspired from the staff. In a way, I think he channeled his love for the President to them.

Being reminded of Donna's conversation with Amy, wherein she reveals that Josh is terrified of losing people he loves because of some mistake he thinks he made. He explicitly sent her around the world in harm's way and she was blown up by terrorists - it had to be tearing him up.

I'm trying to remember if this was the only time that anyone actually directly told Donna that she was spinning her wheels career-wise by staying with Josh.

A sort of "Lower Decks" episode focusing on Margaret, Donna, Carol, Mrs Landingham (Or Fiderer) would have been fun.

I loved the mention of the nuclear spill - I didn't get it at the time, but it was a way for the teacher to know the next day that the call was legit.

I love Donna; she is, however, per that clip, a terrible (flat, frowny, etc) spokesperson.

I remember being astounded that Mrs. Landingham didn't know - how was that even possible?

This scene and season 2 ‘in the shadow of two gunmen’ when Josh was shot are two great parallels- you truly see in both how one cares for the other - the way they shot him running to his office, with the view of her desk - chef’s kiss

One of my favorite shows of all time. For this particular chain of events, something that has bothered me for years is that Josh seems to be the only one that is genuinely concerned for Donna. After a few "Hows Donna" and Leo's "Poor Kid" the rest of them just kind of, move on as if she hasn't been there since the campaign days.
