Thank you very much for your help. A friend of mine just loaned me his yacht and he told me that the only way he’ll let me take it out is if he can stand on the dock and I can move it out without messing anything up to your video because of your video, I was successful. I took it out and brought it back with no issues and that is literally the first time I’ve ever operated a yacht as well as been on a yacht so thank you very much.

There was something creepy about this guy and I felt it all alone, and I remember when he and the female were talking one time to the camera and he was talking about how everyone in his house would all jump into the shower together, and he mentioned he would occasionally share the shower Audrey's daughter Bianca. Seriously missed up.

If I find I have a spare £2.8 million, I'll buy a Riva 56’ Rivale and have a play around at boating myself.

What is the biggest boat one could safely sail and dock/undock solo, even in tight marinas where they don’t come to help with the rib, even at strong winds, provided that all necessary gear is present (furling sails, self-tacking sails, electric winches, all sheets leading to the cockpit, bow thruster, auto-pilot, remote-controlled windlass etc)?

Man alive, I was on the edge of my seat watching you do this. Thank you so much for sharing this serious and challenging docking procedure. That was brilliant, despite what you think was an error. I saw it as a great example. Beautiful. I am just learning this whole sailboat thing. I'm subscribed now!

I can see why most people don't know how to run a power or sail boat. I started commercial fish with my father in 1951. We had no electronics . A compass and charts and a clock. We never had a problem with dead reckoning.I was on different types of boats for a number of years. I ran and crewed on boats from20 ft. to 85 ft.the bigger boats sometime we had and a RDF and a High Seas radio.Only 2 had radar.Sail boats 24 ft cutter to Mexico and beyond. No radio only a compass and a sextet. People today need all the help they can get. I had a fellow an old timer. I had lost the port engine. I was young and didn't mind having help taking into the yard for repairs. He told me -"Always take your time going into the dock give your self lots of time. If you have to try again don't pay attention to people watching you". The largest sail boat was a 76ft trans pak Ketch. One thing I always did was throw a life jacket of board. I told them I had just fallen over. The first thing they all did was turn up wind and drifted of the top of me. Be sure a couple of people know how to stop the boat run it basically. Good luck. Gman

Funny I have to agree with the part at the end. I can drive boats up to 40 meters fairly well. But I look like a first timer in a small tender with an outboard or tiller arm!!!! 🤣

Good video, good tips, but I call BS on wind speed at 20 Knots outside and less inside. Wind speed is very close to 8-10 knots. Never approach any dock at a speed faster than you are willing to hit the dock at. Any engine can stall. The engine linkage/cables can break at any time when approaching the dock/slip.

Your "don't reverse the gear" is very correct. You got it wrong by instantly obeying a direction from someone else.. something we all will do. It wasn't required snyway because there was a big fat tender as a buffer. Also, you were at the mercy of a stranger who usually will not instantly do with the lines, what you expect or what the boat needs. I've seen perfect approaches ruined by these things so many times. Someone shouts reverse or forward at the crucially wrong moment as you're balancing the wind, and you're irrevocably heading sideways. You throw a line and they put it on a useless cleat for you. When im on the lines, into a finger or side-to especially against wind, i want to jump off the boat's closest end and get a short tight midship line on a boatstopping cleat and for the helm to drive on that while i get the bowline pulled in. I never want a gear reverse that will stop the gap being closed at the crucial moment, I just want neutral....i will stop the boat. Unfortunately, when I am helm, i don't have the advantage of having me on the lines. You can't be everywhere.
