Brian, how would you compare this to the 15 year old product (single malt) they released? Long time no see but good to hear from you again.
@TheWhiskeyChaserBrian4 күн бұрын
@@dougpetty3417 cheers Doug. Imho you can not compare the two. This is their own distilled spirit. Between 4-5 yrs of age. You’d need to compare it to other whiskeys of that age and style to really see the difference. Older aged whiskey will generally have the advantage of age of their counterparts. Hope that helps

@@TheWhiskeyChaserBrian I understand. If you had 200 euros which would you buy? The 15 or multiple bottles of this product (and/or other bottles too)? To give you some insight my tastes have changed and I find the pot still spices are too much for me. In March I was in Dublin and purchased Bushmills 16. When I opened it the spice forward over whelmed my taste buds and burned like hell. What whiskey would you recommend I try?

Thanks for the in-depth on the new edition Gold Spot. Could you do an episode comparing all the Midleton whiskies in the same price point? I see Jameson, The Spots, Powers, Method & Madness, Midleton and Red Breast - many in the same price, but i'd like to see them go head-to-head within the same price point to get a comparison and a feel for differences. i'm coming in from the US and I'll be at Christy's Bar Kilkenny in 2 weeks, maybe we can do a tasting/comparison?

Thank’s for informative review. TEELING WOW 3 is not available here in Lithuania yet. I enjoyed first edition-Chinkapin Virgin Oak very much-for me it has a taste of orange jam mixed with ginger and black pepper. Yummy! Been struggling with a second one-Portuguese Virgin Oak. Did not like first bottle at all. Then decided to give it another try and purchased another bottle of Wonders of Wood Portuguese Virgin Oak. Now I think, that it is ok whiskey, but You have to like woody, spicy, punchy and tannic (even bitter) style of whiskey to thoroughly enjoy it. Remember, this series is called Wonder of WOOD for a reason, so people, who are looking for light and approachable Irish whiskey, should try any Teeling WOW edition before buying. I personally quite like this approach of TEELING to make Irish Single Pot Whiskey with extra punch. Sláinte!

At the end of the day it all comes down to personal preference. Personally, I find Irish whiskey generally is a bit over refined for my taste. Sure, it is famous for its smoothness but lacks the singularity and variety of scotch. Scotch offers a far broader spectrum of taste profiles. I believe that there is a scotch for everybody. Most Irish is just a bit samey. Smooth but generally unexciting.

I'm a Bourbon drinker for the most part, but I've bought a few Irish Whiskies too. Maybe a year ago, I bought a real cheapie called Concannon. Although it was quite thin in texture, I enjoyed the slight wine flavored aftertaste. They no longer sell it in my area unfortunately. Would you happen to know of another inexpensive Irish Whiskey that fits that description?... Thanks. 😊
