Pretty vulnerable in that position to getting hit and simply getting full of mud plus that’s a lot of moving parts. I wouldn’t want to have to faff with that on a trip.

You say "future". I see "way more maintenence and complexity" and you didn't explain fuck all about how it works or why it's better, so how bout you get off my feed?

Thats crazy expensive for that bike

It's too bad they spec it with SRAM SX instead of Deore or even Microshift...
@DB-sd3cw3 сағат бұрын
Yup. For some reason companies love throwing that trash on there instead of a similarly priced groupset that actually functions.

Right. Shimano is really king in the budget range.

This is why I bought a "downcountry" bike. I'm 51 and my time of admiring the guys doing gnar and gaps has come and gone. If I land like this now my chances of breaking something are just too high. I'm good with small drops, rolls but mostly slower speed tech. Speed is where you really add risk. Besides, I hate the thought of busting my frame. I'm kinda lucky, where I live, there are few trails that get high speed. Too much steep ups, downs, roots, rocks, logs...

I'm still very skeptical of the use of flex stays on an aluminum frame, seeing as aluminum has poor fatigue properties

My wife recently purchased the new Liv Embolden E+ (female Stance) after owning a hardtail for a few years. Couldn't believe the progression and confidence built up in just a few rides. Couldn't recommend highly enough as a first full-sus...

Is there going to be a steel freehub body for all the different hubs out there because 99% of bikes have an aluminum one. A steel cassette spider on an aluminum body is going to dig into it and destroy it.
@vrwgq3q7 сағат бұрын
If this plows better than the older 115 trance 29 maestro w/ house components, with more modern geo, w/o a crazy reach - this could be a very "nice" trail bike for most recreational riders.

Ironically, the Liv was updated FIRST. They may even be available in the US already, with the updated thru axle design.

Oh giant. I bet it still wants to toss you OTB. Their bikes have always been too steep and short IMO. Even in the Ride B-role it looks like you were getting bucked a lot 😅

So the brand determines whether or not you go over the bars? I have thousands of miles on a giant and noticed no difference between that and my Trek fuel.

Love this update for the Stance, very necessary. What I am wondering is given a similar design... Is that shock still an old imperial measurement? Or did they finally switch to metric standard so that riders can upgrade to a shock with more adjustments if desired? (without struggling in the secondhand market all day.)
@LaurentiusTriarius6 сағат бұрын
Nah it's not a trunnion either, 190x45. You can fit a dual chamber DNM air shock with compression & rebound adjustment for about $150 cdn. *Maybe less on Ali.
@TeddyParker6 сағат бұрын
@@LaurentiusTriarius Oh, nice. 190x45 so you can run a Marzocchi or Fox air shock. Nice. Wish they found a way to run a 210x50 instead as that's super common right now, and opens up more RockShox options.

I think people “under-value” what a hardtail is capable of doing on aggressive trails. Especially when you put beefy tires that are 2.5 or 2.6 with Cushcore or some other insert to add compression and take off the edge.

It is not nice the way Dario talks with the throat. He wasn't talking like that when he first came to Pinkbike. Yes, it gives him a very unique personality. But he is part of a highly professional team. Misplacing his voice lowers the quality of the program. Needless to say that I am a faithful subscriber.
