the MacBook air speakers are essentially built-in outputs, did you try using that instead? so combining dj808 + macbook air speakers in the aggregate audio menu

it can be done, but it's only going to send a "click" of the dj808's master tempo to all midi channels, so it's not so useful. the play/stop on the dj808 works better independently from the daw's clock. It's easier to just dial in the tempo on both.

@@iamshashu Okay. I´m a producer, using Fl studio & Mpc software. Also now i want to start practising Djing. I´ve done my research about controllers and the Roland Dj808 looks like it would fit nicely to my hybrid setup. (I have hardware grooveboxes etc..) Do you know is there other controllers which can midi sync to other hardware? I haven´t found answer to that. Other controllers don´t have 5pin midi out port, but maybe they have midi over usb..?

yes, for this setup, we're primarily dealing with audio. were you talking about the patterns inside the dj808?

@@iamshashu Yeah, a bit of both. I was hoping to be able to make a full beat and also be able to have them be saved as stems also, (if possible). Without having to save each loop / section separately. I know I can just record the full beat within Serato but if I can save each sound as a stem at once that'll be super helpful.

which audio interfaces are you using?

@@iamshashu I use the DJ-808 to output the sound from the studio monitors

@@PunkandDrunk7782For this to work , your controller's interface can't be the main handling the output(or we'll get feedback loop), it has to be another one. In this setup, my main output is handled by the laptop's audio interface. so we need to make an aggregate audio: dj808 (ins) + 2nd audio interface (out). Your monitors will have to be connected to the 2nd. get it?

Okay I’ve got an update, I’m assuming the is only possible if you have Serato set to use laptop speakers right? And you would have to chose whether you want to use your master output to your speakers from the DJ-808 or your MacBook speakers?

i could record, build or stream a djset & add my favorite plugins on top of everything, I can create music just using this setup, and it works for any daw or dj controller with a built-in audio interface. dj808 and FL were just as an example

@@iamshashu but are you using another audio unit or are you using dj808 as the audio unit ?

@@grandmixerdeelob the daw has to use an aggregate audio, setup as dj808 (ins) + built in audio (outs) or other audio interface. It won't work right if you're trying to listen to your daw's outputs from the controller.
